Updates

  • As our community continues to grow, so does its needs. Brazos County will soon have its own medical examiner's office for the first time in county history. The Brazos County Medical Examiner's Office is scheduled to open on September 1st with Dr. Jennifer Dierksen serving as our county's first medical examiner. Previously, our county referred autopsies to other counties, resulting in delays in obtaining important information on homicide cases handled by the Brazos County District Attorney's Office. We look forward to working with Dr. Dierksen and the Brazos County Medical Examiner's Office as they begin this important work on behalf of our community! If you're interested in seeing the facility, the public is invited to tour the building, located at 3037 E. 29th Street in Bryan, on Wednesday, August 19, 2026 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.

  • Last month, the Brazos County District Attorney’s Office opened its doors (well, the College Station City Hall doors!) for our one-of-a-kind "D.A. in a Day" program! Ever wonder what actually happens behind the scenes of the justice system? We brought together a fantastic group—including local residents, defense attorneys, the District Clerk’s office, and community leaders—for an immersive, all-access pass into the daily dynamics of our office. Our "class" got a crash course on what it takes to seek justice every single day: The Starting Line: Intake Prosecutor Brian Price broke down the crucial world of Grand Jury proceedings and investigation work. Street Smart: The College Station Police Department "schooled" everyone on current drug trends in our area. Deep Dive: Court Chief Kara Comte walked attendees through real-life case studies involving Brazos County child abuse. Digital Footprints: Digital forensics experts Jonathan Eisenrich and Ken Sikes revealed the ins and outs of cell phone data and the hidden dangers of the digital world. The Future: Savina Tapia shed light on how the justice system adapts to work with juveniles. An event this massive takes a village, and it was a massive success! A huge shoutout to our incredible High School Student Ambassadors and the dedicated DA’s office staff who worked tirelessly to put this together. A Special Thank You to Our Local Sponsors: We couldn't have kept everyone fueled up and ready to learn without the amazing support of Starbucks, Tim Hortons, Panera, Kolache Rolf’s, and Bubba’s 33! Most importantly, thank YOU to everyone who took time out of their weekend to sit in the jury box with us. Engaging with our community is the best part of what we do! We look forward to hosting our next "D.A. in a Day" event on August 29th.
