  • Seamless system integration is more than an engineering ideal. It's a working model for how organizations succeed together, and the bedrock of true ocean intelligence. Earlier this week we posted about our collaboration with Integer Technologies and Liquid Robotics during LANTERNFISH 2026 – the US Navy's first dedicated, government-led undersea domain demonstration at the Joint Expeditionary Base (JEB). Today, we’re drilling down into how Bedrock’s technology enabled collaboration in a demonstration that demanded it. By collaborating with Navy operators and integrating technologies like Integer’s DIGIT protocol and Liquid Robotics Wave Gliders, we proved that full-stack, multi-system interoperability is ready to scale. Sailors don't want another screen; they want capability that flows into the Common Operating Picture they already operate. By leveraging open architecture, we integrated into existing Navy C2 systems with zero new infrastructure. A massive thank you to the partners who made this possible, and to the U.S. Navy for setting the conditions for real interoperability.   • Everyone’s racing to bolt AI onto everything right now, even when it's unclear if it’s even solving a problem. Instead of chasing speed for its own sake, we gave our team a day to build AI tools that solve real problems, the ones that unlock subsea insights even faster for our customers. After hosting our first quarterly Innovation Day, our very own Francisco Bolivar took first place, building “Fathom,” a mission planning assistant that takes project requirements, suggests survey design, pulls bathymetry for a first-pass depth reference, and generates mission files ready to load straight into Mosaic, our mission planning and data delivery platform. The results speak for themselves. Francisco pointed out that AI needs guidance, and depends on the user truly understanding the problem. The same is true for Bedrock AI Innovation Day. When we direct our efforts towards a full-understood problem, we unlock new possibilities for customers. Falling behind isn’t on the table, and neither is building things nobody needs.     Last week Bedrock Ocean Exploration hosted our AI Innovation Day, giving everyone the chance to spend a day building something with AI. No constraints, just creativity and solving real problems!! 🤓 I decided to build a mission planning assistant for our AUV operations (I decided to call it “Fathom”, sounds cool right?! Google it and you will find the meaning of the verb). It basically takes project requirements, suggests the survey design, pulls GMRT bathymetry for a first-pass depth reference, and generates Mosaic-compatible files (Mosaic = Bedrock’s mission planning tool). It's built on geophysical fundamentals, knowledge about our system and a good amount of lessons learned from field experience. Images show some mission examples generated by the assistant over synthetic inputs. One is a coordinated pipeline inspection using two AUVs: one carrying MBES/SSS for seafloor mapping and another with SBP for pipeline burial assessment, automatically increasing survey density at key crossing points. The second is a COIs survey that combines a high-pass clearance, a tight line-spacing magnetometer lawn, and a wagon-wheel pattern to provide multiple side-scan sonar perspectives, all using optimized mission settings for the survey objectives!!! Last one, just some training shapes. It was incredibly rewarding to see the idea come together in a single day, and even more exciting that it earned 1st place among a fantastic group of innovative projects. One funny side note: I told the assistant that we had won and asked it to create a victory image (also included in the post; my 6yo could have done it better!). It was a good reminder that AI is an incredible tool, but getting great results still depends on understanding the problem, knowing its limitations, proper training, using the right agents and guiding it in the right direction. #ArtificialIntelligence #MissionPlanning #AUV #OceanExploration #OceanTech #Innovation #Geospatial #AutonomousSystems

  • Mission complete: LANTERNFISH 26 Bedrock, Integer Technologies, and Liquid Robotics just demonstrated something new for the U.S. Navy: a connected architecture linking autonomous undersea vehicles, persistent surface communications, and shore-based digital twins, all operating through constrained, low-bandwidth networks. Our AUVs surveyed the seafloor and detected a change in undersea infrastructure Integer's DIGIT UxV kept operators informed on vehicle health and mission status. Liquid Robotics' Wave Glider® relayed it all to shore via satellite, no crewed vessel required. This collaborative effort marks an important milestone in protecting critical undersea infrastructure at scale by proving that autonomous operations can provide real-time mission awareness from shore in communications-constrained environments. It also highlights the critical importance of seamless system integration. By integrating technologies like Integer’s DIGIT protocol and Liquid Robotics Wave Gliders, Bedrock proved that full-stack, multi-system interoperability is ready to scale.   • Bedrock signed an MOU with Integer Technologies, and we've put it to work at a recent Navy capabilities demonstration. Bedrock AUVs operated as #DIGIT-enabled nodes within the exercise construct, with Integer's DIGIT software providing mission assurance and C2 integration over degraded, low-bandwidth comms. The demonstration: end-to-end undersea domain awareness from vehicle to operator screen, with zero new infrastructure. Sailors don't want another screen. They want capability that flows into the Common Operating Picture they already operate. #MOSA and #UMAA-compliant open architecture makes that possible.   • 🌊 Chairman Kou-I Szu (絲國一) and a distinguished delegation from TAIROA Taiwan (Taiwan Automation Intelligence and Robotics Association, TAIROA.org.tw) visited Bedrock Ocean HQ in California last week. The delegation brought together leaders from some of Taiwan's most capable technology and manufacturing companies — and the conversation went exactly where it needed to go. Taiwan and Bedrock share a common conviction: the ocean is a domain that must be understood, monitored, and protected. As an island nation surrounded by some of the world’s most strategically consequential waters, Taiwan’s interest in autonomous subsea technology is more than commercial. It's national. Bedrock is the intelligence infrastructure powering the ocean economy. Our technology was built for real work: infrastructure inspection, seabed mapping, and subsea intelligence at scale. Getting there requires the kind of manufacturing excellence, supply chain depth, and partnership infrastructure that Taiwan has spent decades building. This visit was about collaboration. We explored concrete opportunities across: 🔹 Advanced manufacturing partnerships to scale AUV production 🔹 Supply chain collaboration to build resilient, high-quality component sourcing 🔹 Island resource and maritime security applications where autonomous underwater systems can provide persistent, scalable awareness At the edge of the U.S. Pacific Command (PACOM) theater, speed of understanding is speed of response. Bedrock's expeditionary capability deploys autonomous underwater intelligence directly from fleet assets, rapidly delivering actionable subsea insight where and when it matters most. We are proud to support the United States and our allies in safeguarding freedom of navigation and shared independence across the Indo-Pacific region.     𝗙𝗠𝗦: 𝗥𝗲𝗱𝗲𝗳𝗶𝗻𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗥𝗶𝗴 𝗘𝗻𝘁𝗿𝘆 𝗗𝗲𝗯𝗿𝗶𝘀 𝗦𝘂𝗿𝘃𝗲𝘆𝘀 𝘄𝗶𝘁𝗵 𝗔𝗨𝗩 𝗧𝗲𝗰𝗵𝗻𝗼𝗹𝗼𝗴𝘆 The conventional route for rig entry debris surveys is deployment of an Anchor Handling Vessel with ROV, or a dedicated survey vessel. 𝗘𝗳𝗳𝗲𝗰𝘁𝗶𝘃𝗲, 𝗯𝘂𝘁 𝗲𝘅𝗽𝗲𝗻𝘀𝗶𝘃𝗲, 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗲𝘅𝗽𝗼𝘀𝗲𝗱 𝘁𝗼 𝗮 𝘃𝗲𝘀𝘀𝗲𝗹 𝗺𝗮𝗿𝗸𝗲𝘁 𝘁𝗵𝗮𝘁'𝘀 𝘁𝗶𝗴𝗵𝘁𝗲𝗿 𝘁𝗵𝗮𝗻 𝗲𝘃𝗲𝗿.   • A 24-foot unmanned surface vessel rescued two Apache crew members from the Gulf of Oman this week. The Wall Street Journal called it a "first-of-its-kind operation at sea" and quoted our own Colin Corridan (Head of Government & Defense) on what it means. "[The Navy had] spent years proving that unmanned systems could be trusted in one of the world's most complex and strategically important waterways. Seeing that capability now contribute to a real-world rescue demonstrates how far the technology and the operators have come." That expertise now lives at Bedrock, where we build the ocean intelligence infrastructure that makes environments like this one safer to operate in.   • Bedrock just completed a multi-day, 24/7 offshore geophysical survey for a commercial customer in the North Sea off the coast of the UK. Small team. Fast mobilization. Continuous autonomous operations, day and night, through one of the most demanding maritime environments in the world. The logistics defined this mission as much as the technology. We mobilized quickly, maintained uninterrupted operations across multiple days, and turned data around to the customer while our AUVs were still in the water. That's the model: unlocking ocean insights at mission speed. The North Sea sets a high bar. It's also home to some of the most consequential subsea infrastructure in the world. Empowering our clients with our high-resolution seabed data to make decisions under real requirements and real timeline matters to us. This is what expeditionary Ocean Intelligence looks like. Her track record spans Amazon, Uber, HERE Technologies, and DAT Freight & Analytics. She's built and transformed engineering orgs, led company-wide architecture migrations, cut delivery cycles from 8 months to 1, and shipped mission-critical infrastructure at cloud scale — including building the remote operator platform for autonomous vehicles at Uber. At HERE, she drove a full shift from manual map production to automated, real-time, cloud-based pipelines for self-driving vehicles, with partnerships spanning Audi, BMW, and Daimler. Shelley also holds patents in autonomous vehicle routing and real-time remote operator systems, a perfect fit for the frontier we are building at Bedrock.
