New research by IWSR shows more wine consumers in major wine markets are purchasing non-alcoholic wine, driven by increasing moderation and concerns around health and wellness. Not one or two markets, either. All eight tracked by IWSR. US, Canada, UK, France, Germany, Spain, Japan, Australia —>> all moving the same direction. Here's what the 2019-24 data shows for non-alcohol wine volume growth: 1. Canada leads at +27% CAGR 2. Japan close behind at +26% 3. US up 23% 4. Australia up 18% 5. UK up 15% 6. Germany, a more mature market, still grew 9% 7. Spain grew 6%, France grew 4% Even the "slow" markets are still growing. There's no market on this list moving backward. Low-alcohol still leads in volume overall. But non-alcohol is the one gaining real momentum. For years, the industry treated adult non-alcoholic as a beer conversation, with wine and spirits playing catch-up. This data is saying otherwise. Millennials make up the largest share of NA wine buyers in almost every market. Japan and Spain skew older, but everywhere else, it's the same demographic driving beer, RTDs, and now wine. Boomers' share of the category has been shrinking since 2022, right as Gen Z keeps showing up. That's not a coincidence. It's a generational handoff happening. So here's the takeaway 👇 This is a single consumer behavior shift, moving through every category at the same time.
