BlueMark and R&I, Japan's leading credit rating agency, have partnered to launch Instrument ID, a new impact accountability assessment for Japan's financial institutions. 🇯🇵 Japan's capital markets are concentrated in fixed income, and its primary impact investors are banks and life insurers, not equity-focused asset managers. ⏫ Yet accountability frameworks haven't caught up. Instrument ID fills the gap, evaluating impact discipline across five pillars at both the design stage and during the loan period. 📊 Built on BlueMark's Fund ID and R&I's deep experience in Japan's financial system, it gives institutions the analysis and benchmarking they need to lend for impact with confidence. This week, our CEO Christina Leijonhufvud and Associate Matt Donovan attended Big Path Capital’s 2026 Impact Capitalism Summit in Charleston, South Carolina, joining a vibrant group of investors for a refreshingly authentic and communal gathering. Thank you to the Big Path Capital Team, especially Michael Whelchel, Erin (Hubbard) Breslawski, Rebecca Jablonsky, and Kristin Remenschneider, for bringing this community together for such a fun and inspiring event, and for inviting BlueMark to be your partner this year on the event. Gratitude also goes to Dave Kirkpatrick from SJF Ventures and Abbey Schmitt from GCM Grosvenor for the excellent discussion, moderated by Christina, about GP and LP approaches to impact due diligence, common friction points, and how the process can be a driver of value. Through BlueMark’s new IQ Diligence product, we are working to bring greater efficiency, deeper insights, and comparability to the diligence process, helping allocators make more informed investment decisions while relieving a painpoint for GPs responding to highly variable LP questionnaires. As we heard from so many attendees, Big Path Capital’s Summit is an impact investing event that stands apart from the rest, and we’re already looking forward to next year! 🌍

Centre for Impact Investing and Practices (CIIP), in partnership with Temasek, Invesco, and CGIAR Hub for Sustainable Finance (ImpactSF), has released a new report: Climate Adaptation and Resilience in Asia: Pricing Risk, Sizing Opportunities, Financing Solutions. The report examines Asia's climate adaptation and resilience (CA&R) landscape, quantifying the economic and human costs of climate risk, identifying 250+ prioritized investable solutions, and tracking ~US$100B in CA&R financing flows from 2021 to 2025, alongside insights from 165 Asian funders representing US$1 trillion in AUM. BlueMark contributed to report sections on impact measurement and management, with CIIP leveraging BlueMark IQ data to map how CA&R-focused funds track impact today — including noting a 3.5x increase in CA&R focused funds and the wide variety of impact KPIs being used by funds investing in CA&R Read the full report below 👇
Climate adaptation and resilience (CA&R) is needed now, as climate risks worsen day by day. The good news — there has been rising interest in CA&R from investors and funders alike. Our new report, developed in partnership with Temasek, Invesco, and CGIAR Hub for Sustainable Finance (ImpactSF), with support from Dalberg, provides a practical map of where and how capital can act to advance solutions and build resilience across the region. Launched at Ecosperity’s Impact Investing Roundtable organised by CIIP and Temasek, 𝘾𝙡𝙞𝙢𝙖𝙩𝙚 𝘼𝙙𝙖𝙥𝙩𝙖𝙩𝙞𝙤𝙣 𝙖𝙣𝙙 𝙍𝙚𝙨𝙞𝙡𝙞𝙚𝙣𝙘𝙚 𝙞𝙣 𝘼𝙨𝙞𝙖: 𝙋𝙧𝙞𝙘𝙞𝙣𝙜 𝙍𝙞𝙨𝙠, 𝙎𝙞𝙯𝙞𝙣𝙜 𝙊𝙥𝙥𝙤𝙧𝙩𝙪𝙣𝙞𝙩𝙞𝙚𝙨, 𝙁𝙞𝙣𝙖𝙣𝙘𝙞𝙣𝙜 𝙎𝙤𝙡𝙪𝙩𝙞𝙤𝙣𝙨 identifies 250+ solutions across 9 sectors in Asia. It also assesses their commercial readiness and impact potential, showing where philanthropic, public, and private capital can play distinct roles. The study points to a clear challenge: capital deployment is constrained not only by funding gaps, but also information gaps. Funders and investors need clearer visibility on which solutions are ready, what risks remain, and what types of capital are best suited to act. Also accompanying the report are: 💡 𝗔 𝗳𝗶𝗻𝗮𝗻𝗰𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗳𝗹𝗼𝘄 𝗶𝗻𝘁𝗲𝗹𝗹𝗶𝗴𝗲𝗻𝗰𝗲 𝗱𝗮𝘀𝗵𝗯𝗼𝗮𝗿𝗱 mapping public, private and philanthropic capital flows and CA&R funding gaps across China, India, and Southeast Asia 💡 𝗔 𝘀𝗲𝗰𝘁𝗼𝗿𝗮𝗹 𝗱𝗲𝗲𝗽 𝗱𝗶𝘃𝗲 𝗼𝗻 𝗮𝗴𝗿𝗶-𝗳𝗼𝗼𝗱 𝗿𝗲𝘀𝗶𝗹𝗶𝗲𝗻𝗰𝗲 in Southeast Asia, outlining both the opportunities and risks shaping the landscape ➡️ Check out the report here: bit.ly/car-full-report ➡️ Explore the dashboard: https://lnkd.in/ggDjtApT #ClimateAdaptation #ClimateResilience #ImpactInvesting #CatalyticCapital #Asia

⏫ The Impact Performance Reporting Norms continue to set the bar for what credible impact reporting looks like, and verifiability is central to that shift. At BlueMark, we're seeing many clients come to us for both data point assurance and alignment verification against the Norms. What was once a differentiator is quickly becoming a mark of best practice. Reach out to schedule time with our team to discuss verifying your next report and assuring your data points: https://lnkd.in/eYmtsmrP
📊 𝗪𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝗺𝗮𝗸𝗲𝘀 𝗶𝗺𝗽𝗮𝗰𝘁 𝗶𝗻𝗳𝗼𝗿𝗺𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗮𝗰𝘁𝘂𝗮𝗹𝗹𝘆 𝘂𝘀𝗲𝗳𝘂𝗹? We're continuing our series on the 𝗚𝘂𝗶𝗱𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗣𝗿𝗶𝗻𝗰𝗶𝗽𝗹𝗲𝘀 that underpin the Impact Performance Reporting Norms. This week: 𝘃𝗲𝗿𝗶𝗳𝗶𝗮𝗯𝗶𝗹𝗶𝘁𝘆 — another 𝗲𝗻𝗵𝗮𝗻𝗰𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗰𝗵𝗮𝗿𝗮𝗰𝘁𝗲𝗿𝗶𝘀𝘁𝗶𝗰 that strengthens the credibility of what's reported. 💡 Information is 𝘃𝗲𝗿𝗶𝗳𝗶𝗮𝗯𝗹𝗲 if it is possible to corroborate either the information itself, or the inputs used to derive it. This can happen in two ways: • 𝗗𝗶𝗿𝗲𝗰𝘁𝗹𝘆 — for example, by commissioning research relating to affected stakeholders • 𝗜𝗻𝗱𝗶𝗿𝗲𝗰𝘁𝗹𝘆 — by checking the calculations and methods used to aggregate and analyse source data 👉 Even when aspects of impact performance aren't directly observable, the 𝘂𝗻𝗱𝗲𝗿𝗹𝘆𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗲𝘃𝗶𝗱𝗲𝗻𝗰𝗲 – together with the 𝗿𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻𝗮𝗹𝗲 for how that evidence is used and the processes by which the information was generated – can be documented and reviewed. Here are a few 𝗽𝗿𝗮𝗰𝘁𝗶𝗰𝗮𝗹 𝘄𝗮𝘆𝘀 report preparers can 𝗲𝗻𝗵𝗮𝗻𝗰𝗲 𝘃𝗲𝗿𝗶𝗳𝗶𝗮𝗯𝗶𝗹𝗶𝘁𝘆: 🤖 𝗗𝗶𝘀𝗰𝗹𝗼𝘀𝗲 𝗔𝗜 𝘂𝘀𝗲: If any part of the report was generated using AI, indicate which tool was used, its purpose (e.g. drafting, analysis), and the steps taken to ensure accuracy and address possible biases ✅ 𝗗𝗶𝘀𝗰𝗹𝗼𝘀𝗲 𝗱𝗮𝘁𝗮 𝗽𝗼𝗶𝗻𝘁 𝗮𝘀𝘀𝘂𝗿𝗮𝗻𝗰𝗲: If impact performance data was subject to independent review, include the scope, the level of assurance (limited or reasonable), and the conclusions of the assurance exercise. 📋 𝗦𝗶𝗴𝗻𝗮𝗹 𝗮𝗹𝗶𝗴𝗻𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁 𝗿𝗲𝘃𝗶𝗲𝘄: Indicate whether the report has been independently reviewed for alignment with the Reporting Norms 🔍 𝗥𝗲𝗳𝗲𝗿𝗲𝗻𝗰𝗲 𝗽𝗿𝗮𝗰𝘁𝗶𝗰𝗲-𝗹𝗲𝘃𝗲𝗹 𝘃𝗲𝗿𝗶𝗳𝗶𝗰𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻: Indicate whether underlying impact management systems have been verified against frameworks such as the Operating Principles for Impact Management ➡️ More characteristics of useful information to follow. BlueMark is excited to announce a partnership with SDG Impact Finance Initiative (SIFI) to support stronger impact measurement and management practices across the SIFI portfolio. Through BlueMark’s Fund ID assessment, SIFI portfolio organisations will have access to independent verification designed to help strengthen impact practices, benchmark against evolving industry standards and peers, and enhance the credibility of impact reporting. As demand grows for greater transparency and accountability across impact investing, we’re encouraged to see leading institutions embedding independent verification into their approach from an early stage. We look forward to supporting SIFI and its portfolio organisations as this initiative expands.
