60% of brand recommendations differ between ChatGPT and Gemini for the exact same query. BrightEdge analyzed 7 industries using AI Catalyst, tracking what each engine recommends when buyers ask the questions your marketing team is optimizing for. The engines do not agree. In Finance, only 1 in 5 recommended brands appear on both platforms. If your brand appears on ChatGPT but not Gemini, you are invisible to half of AI-assisted research. If you are on neither, you are absent from a visibility layer your competitors are actively building. The data is not directional. It is already here. Social visibility and social influence aren't the same thing when AI is forming the answer. Thanks to the research team for the fresh insights that break down the where, the why, and what it means for marketers. 🔍
👀 Google AI Cites Facebook in 19.5 Million Answers. New BrightEdge Research Shows Which Social Platforms and What Sources Are Becoming Key to AI Discovery. Great to see new data out today from our technology and team. One in every 15 searches now surfaces Facebook or Instagram content inside a Google AI Overview, often without the person ever opening the app. Here's a summary of the key findings, and what they mean for brands and marketers. We analyzed over 300 million US monthly searches through the BrightEdge AI Hyper Cube. Google's AI Overviews cited Facebook as a source 19.5 million times. Instagram showed up 877,000 times. TikTok, 78,000. 📊 What I think is really interesting is what's behind those numbers. Google's AI treats each platform like an expert on a different topic: 📍 Facebook: local and community signals, recalls, closures, sports updates 🎨 Instagram: culture and lifestyle, fashion, food, travel 🔥 TikTok: trends and "hacks" 💬 Reddit: firsthand experience and troubleshooting 🎥 YouTube: instructional, how-to content We were also able to pinpoint individual posts driving high-volume answers. An Instagram post surfaced for "mobile payment app," a topic searched 18.5 million times a month. A Facebook post from the Cincinnati Reds surfaced for "Brewers vs. Reds," at 11.6 million monthly searches. For marketers, this creates two challenges: knowing what AI engines are actually pulling from and knowing how to act on it. It isn't enough that Instagram or Facebook matters. What matters is which specific post, creator, or community source is shaping the answer for a high-value topic in your category, and how that stacks up against your own owned content. A few pointers to keep top of mind: ● AI influence isn't the same as social visibility. Public posts and conversations, even from small accounts, can shape how Google's AI describes a brand. ● Brand strategy has to extend past owned channels. As a brand, you can't judge your influence in AI answers by your website or your biggest social accounts alone. You need visibility into the full influence graph behind those answers. From search, to discovery, to answers, SEO and AEO working together is what's driving AI search success. CEO Jim Yu shares insights from enterprise marketers on what's driving their traction and results 👇
67% of marketers say restructuring content to directly answer questions moved their AI visibility most, clear proof that core SEO fundamentals, schema, structured data, and E-E-A-T, are driving real AEO success. 🧭 Here are a few key insights from the BrightEdge team and this month's research poll of enterprise marketers. 67% of marketers say restructuring content to directly answer questions is what's actually moved their AI visibility, more than any other tactic tested. That single tactic beat every other one tested. Close behind: 47% point to schema and structured data, and 27% credit original content for E-E-A-T signals. None of that is new for some. But it's a very important reminder of the SEO discipline that's always separated strong from mediocre search and AI outcomes. Success in AEO is raising the stakes for ignoring them. 🛠️ Off-site tells an interesting and (very topical story). Digital PR and earned media lead at 55%, review sites follow at 36%, and third-party proof in general is what AI engines, models, and agents lean on before they'll recommend a brand. 📄 Core site, SEO, and content fundamentals make you discoverable. 🤝 Outside validation helps fuel trust. 18% of marketers told us nothing off-site has moved the needle yet. That's not a red flag. For example, content for off-site signals take longer to build before reporting success. Don't mistake slow for stalled as that 27% will rise quickly. ⏳ Put the two together and the pattern is simple: structure earns you a place in the answer, and third-party trust earns you the recommendation. Brands treating those as optional extras are going to keep wondering why they're invisible to AI, when the fundamentals were sitting there the whole time. 💡 Optimize once, adapt, and win everywhere! #AISearch #SEO #AEO #BrightEdge #CustomerSuccess

AI isn’t waiting for consumers to say they are ready to buy. BrightEdge research shows that when a user asks a basic conversational question or seeks help with a task, AI search engines immediately begin serving up highly specific, direct product recommendations. For ecommerce and marketing teams, this is a massive paradigm shift. The traditional research phase is collapsing, and if your products aren’t optimized to be recommended by AI agents early in that journey, you risk becoming invisible. With Q4 holiday planning kicking off in August, now is the precise moment to understand where consumer behavior is headed and adapt your digital commerce strategy for 2026. Join us live on Wednesday, July 22, 2026, at 10:00 AM PT (1:00 PM ET) to learn the new rules of agentic commerce. https://lnkd.in/gYp--5dv #AgenticCommerce #AISearch #DigitalMarketing #SEO #BrightEdge #HolidayPlanning2026 #AEO

Seasonal peaks are won in the months before them, not the week of. Tombras built Altar'd State's organic search foundation on BrightEdge ahead of Easter, Data Cube X for opportunity discovery, Instant for content velocity, AutoPilot for ranking continuity. When Easter arrived, the pages were already ranking. Result: 52% increase in Easter landing-page revenue year over year. 394% growth in Page 1 non-branded "dress" keyword rankings. The brands that win seasonal search are not running harder in-season. They are building earlier. https://lnkd.in/gwdQNf6M #SEO #BrightEdge #CustomerSuccess #DigitalMarketing #AEO

Really interesting insights from our CEO on what it takes for brands to drive success from AI. Success from search and AI optimization means focusing on every stage of the buyer journey. Visibility is just the starting point. As Jim Yu points out, "a brand mention is only a starting point." The real opportunity comes from understanding how AI talks about your brand, which AI engines and LLMs are influencing customers, what sources those models rely on, and most importantly, where to take action. The brands seeing the strongest results are those building a presence across the entire AI customer journey, from visibility and mentions to answers, citations, recommendations and ultimately purchase.
71% of marketers say they need to focus more on mid- and bottom-funnel AEO strategy. Understanding brand visibility is just the start of the journey; then the battle for revenue really begins. ⚔️ Marketers are moving beyond just measuring visibility to understanding AI’s impact on the purchase funnel. I was just looking at one really interesting finding from our ongoing research surveys of enterprise marketers: 71% said they are least confident in AI optimization across the middle and bottom of the funnel, and 53% of that concern is bottom-of-funnel alone. After all, it is where buying happens, and where brands need to earn their right to revenue. And the closer you get to the sale, the harder it gets. AI is most selective at the bottom of the funnel. BrightEdge AI HyperCube data shows that ChatGPT names the fewest brands at the transaction stage. Google swaps AI Overviews for Shopping Ads the moment a query turns transactional. The shortlist gets tightest exactly where the sale is decided. For brands, this means the real question is not just “How do I get visible?” It is “How do I earn my way through a much shorter, much more selective journey?” This shift is already underway. Our survey findings also show that 86% of marketers are rebuilding content around the compressed AI journey. A quarter have already restructured. The old (staged) funnel model is nearly extinct because AI collapses awareness to purchase into a single answer, instead of slow walk-through stages. 📈 A brand mention is only a starting point. Getting further down the funnel means moving from visible to cited as a credible source, then to recommended – towards the point of purchase. Each stage is a harder bar than the last. Trust is the real currency behind all of it. If AI does not trust your brand enough to recommend it, there is no trust-and no sale. 🔑 🎯 That's the shift for brands to build on now. Visibility is just the start line now. Optimize for AI trust across the full funnel: mention, citation, recommendation, purchase. #AISearch #SEO #AEO #MarketingStrategy #Brand #BrightEdge
