Learning more about the role BTADD plays in our Region. The Buffalo Trace Area Development District (BTADD) was established in 1969 to provide services and support to the residents of Bracken, Fleming, Lewis, Mason, and Robertson Counties. BTADD’s mission is to provide Regional Planning, Promote Economic Development, Coordinate Social Service Delivery, and Facilitate Effective Change to Ensure the Prosperity of Our Present and Future Generations. Over the next several weeks, we will highlight the four primary areas of service within the Buffalo Trace Area Development District: Department of Aging & Independent Living Finance Planning & Development Workforce Development Today's spotlight is on the Department of Aging & Independent Living in our Did You Know series? The BTADD serves as the state-designated Area Agency on Aging and Independent Living, operating as part of the national aging network under the direction of the U.S. Administration on Aging and the supervision of the Kentucky Department for Aging and Independent Living. The Area Agency on Aging is responsible for implementing the Older Americans Act of 1965, helping identify the needs of older adults, addressing those needs through programs and services, and serving as an advocate for seniors throughout our region. The Department of Aging & Independent Living is administered by BTADD staff, advised by the Buffalo Trace Aging Advisory Council, and operates under the supervision of the Buffalo Trace Area Development District Board of Directors. This department develops, implements, and administers a comprehensive system of services for seniors throughout the five-county Buffalo Trace region, including Bracken, Fleming, Lewis, Mason, and Robertson Counties. McCall Ruark Did You Know? – Week #3 The Buffalo Trace Area Development District (BTADD) was established in 1969 to provide services and support to the residents of Bracken, Fleming, Lewis, Mason, and Robertson Counties. BTADD’s mission is to provide regional planning, promote economic development, coordinate social service delivery, and facilitate effective change to ensure the prosperity of our present and future generations. This week we will be highlighting the third area of BTADD, Finance. The ADD has the role of providing technical assistance to local units of government in personnel and general administration. The work tasks related to personnel management include providing a management system that includes organizational structure, classification, compensation, fringe benefits, rules and regulations, and general management. The ADD offers assistance in cash investment management and assists in preparing ordinances with occupational taxes. The Buffalo Trace Area Development District provides technical assistance to local units of government in financial administration and related areas. The specific work tasks related to financial administration include maintaining an inventory of all city and county officials within their respective districts and maintaining an inventory of special districts. The ADD additionally provides training programs for local officials, including members of legislative bodies, advisory bodies, sheriffs and deputies, jailers, and clerks.
