As demand for residential solar and home backup power systems continues to grow, Texas Senate Bill 1202 introduces a new pathway for qualifying residential projects. Effective September 1, 2025, the law allows qualified third-party professionals to perform plan reviews and inspections for eligible home backup power installations, including certain residential solar and battery energy storage systems. The goal is to help streamline the permitting process while maintaining compliance with applicable building codes.  Burgess Municipal Services is prepared to assist municipalities with qualifying plan reviews and inspections under the new legislation, helping communities navigate the updated permitting process while maintaining compliance with applicable building codes.
