  • A multi-state dealer group kept losing the towns just outside its home market to competitors who ranked first there. We built geo-targeted landing pages mapped to how buyers in each neighboring market actually search, and search visibility climbed 28%, all from organic. No added ad spend. Here's how hyper-local SEO won those markets: https://hubs.li/Q04qBd5Q0

  • More AI-generated creative means more volume. It also means more slop. "Slop" is the term that's settled in to describe bulk content produced with no human intent behind it, and a growing share of consumers now actively avoid brands they associate with it. For a dealership, the risk is not just that AI creative underperforms. It is that it quietly erodes the trust shoppers need to choose you. Billy Sawyer, our AVP of Creative, put together the playbook on getting the balance right. It covers the trust premium dealers are sitting on right now, the creative volume paradox AI has introduced, and the five-step workflow our team uses to scale output without scaling risk: https://hubs.ly/Q04pGsY90

  • The SEO industry has a naming problem. Every time search evolves, the response is a new acronym. AEO. GEO. And with each new term, a new invoice tends to follow. AEO (Answer Engine Optimization) refers to appearing as the cited answer in Google's AI Overviews and AI Mode, Microsoft Copilot, and chatbots. GEO (Generative Engine Optimization) describes showing up inside responses from ChatGPT, Claude, and similar tools. Both surfaces are real. Both matter. But the discipline required to win them is not new. AEO and GEO are SEO doing its job in more places. Ben Carsley, our VP of Content & SEO, makes this case in his latest Insights piece, and it is worth reading before your next vendor conversation. The foundations that help Google trust a website (site structure, crawlability, content quality, internal linking, schema, and consistent NAP data) are the same foundations that help AI systems understand and cite it. Google's own guidance on AI optimization says as much. So when someone pitches a standalone AEO package, the reasonable question is: what does it include that strong SEO does not already cover? What has genuinely changed is the scope of where search happens. A shopper cross-shopping a midsize SUV might ask ChatGPT for options, watch a walkaround on YouTube, read reviews on Reddit, look up local inventory on Google, and only then land on a dealership's website. Organic media now has to account for the entire path. That is the idea behind Search Everywhere Optimization, the unified approach our Organic Media Team applies. Rather than treating SEO, AEO, and GEO as separate workstreams, it treats them as one discipline, keeping you accurately represented and citation-worthy across every surface where a shopper might look. The practical playbook covers six fundamentals: structure content so engines and AI can extract direct answers from it; use schema to remove ambiguity about what your pages mean, since our research across 151 dealerships found it as one of the clearest signals separating dealers who appear in AI Overviews from those who do not; cover topics thoroughly rather than chasing individual keywords, because depth signals authority; build review volume and recency across platforms; keep name, address, phone, and hours consistent across every listing; and expand your syndication footprint so AI systems have multiple corroborating sources. None of these require a new product. All of them compound. The broader point: automotive marketing is particularly susceptible to rebranding established work. The acronyms change. The fundamentals mostly do not. Before committing to any new SEO-adjacent package, ask one question: what does this include that our current program does not? A specific answer means the conversation is worth having. A vague one is the answer. Read the full piece: https://hubs.li/Q04pydzW0

  • Austin Steves wasn't looking for a new marketing partner when we came calling. He was satisfied with who he had. What moved him was the account model. Our team's Google-certified expertise and the white-glove level of service we bring to every rooftop. His account manager knows Steves Chevrolet specifically and tailors everything to how Austin wants to run his operation. • Every few months, someone declares that AI has made paid search obsolete for car dealers. The logic seems reasonable on the surface. If an AI assistant answers a shopper's question without them ever clicking an ad, what is the point of running one? Here is the answer: Google generates more than $200 billion annually from advertising. The platforms have every incentive to weave ads into AI experiences, not to let AI displace them. The result is that search and shopping ads now appear above, below, and within AI Overviews. According to Conductor, 1 in 4 AI Overview results already include Google Ads. That number has grown sharply over the past year. Dealers with current campaign structures are already eligible for those placements, often without realizing it. That last point matters. AI Overview ad inventory is not something dealers opt into separately. Advertisers running modern campaign types like Performance Max and AI Max are automatically eligible. What determines whether a dealer shows up in those placements is not a setting they toggle. It is whether their account was built for today's environment or the one from three years ago. Our VP of Performance Media, Trevor Spiro, lays out the practical difference in his latest piece. The gap between dealers who are visible in AI-influenced search and those who are not comes down to five things: a clean, real-time inventory feed that reflects what is actually on the lot; campaign types that are eligible for AI surfaces; human-set guardrails that give automated bidding the right parameters to operate inside; measurement tied to actual sales rather than clicks; and deliberate testing across emerging platforms like ChatGPT and Copilot, where C-4 Analytics is already running and evaluating placements. None of these are exotic. They are the operational discipline that separates accounts that look efficient in a dashboard from accounts that actually move metal. The dealers losing visibility in AI search are not losing it because the platforms changed the rules on them. They are losing it because their accounts were never updated when the platforms evolved. The ones who built their infrastructure for today's environment are showing up inside AI answers. The ones running yesterday's accounts are simply not there. Trevor's piece covers the full playbook. https://hubs.li/Q04nWy7z0

The car-buying journey no longer starts and ends with a Google search. According to C-4 Analytics' Quarterly Consumer Intent Survey, 64% of car shoppers say they plan to use AI during their next vehicle purchase. According to SparkToro, 68% of Google searches in early 2026 ended without a click through to the open web. Consumers are now using ChatGPT, social platforms, and AI assistants alongside search engines throughout their path to purchase. That does not mean demand has softened. Shoppers still need vehicles. They still compare dealers, research pricing, financing, inventory and service availability. What has changed is where and how that intent surfaces. The underlying demand is unchanged. The discovery path is not. The dealers winning in the AI Search Era are not the ones predicting which platform comes out on top. They are the ones who have built the infrastructure to capture shopper intent wherever it appears. At C-4 Analytics, we call this intent infrastructure: the combination of structured inventory data, quality localized content, coordinated campaigns across traditional search and AI surfaces, and measurement systems that track real visibility, not just clicks. Dealers who have built this infrastructure are not just better positioned for today's search landscape; they are protected against whatever changes to automotive discovery come next. Three things sit at the core of it. - Data and inventory depth. A dealer whose inventory data, pricing, incentives and location signals are structured and current is far more likely to appear in AI search results than one whose data is stale or inconsistently maintained. This is the foundational work that determines whether you show up at all. - Omni-channel execution. Capturing the full funnel now means being present across Google, AI assistants, and social platforms, because shoppers use all three interchangeably in a single purchase journey. The shopper who uses ChatGPT to build a comparison list, then switches to Google to find a specific dealer, then checks social to evaluate reputation is the standard shopper now, not the exception. - Disciplined adoption of new platforms. The right response to a fast-moving search landscape is not to chase every new platform announcement, but to test early, evaluate on actual business results, and move budget toward what demonstrably drives leads and sales. Every vendor in automotive is claiming an AI angle right now. The ones worth listening to are the ones who can show you what changed in your market. Our VP of Content & SEO, Ben Carsley, lays out what this looks like in practice in his latest piece: https://hubs.li/Q04nMzcM0

  • We're closing out June with one of our favorite traditions. In support of Pride month, we hosted a Pie for Pride event, where employees voted with donation dollars to have a member of leadership pied live on camera during our weekly company-wide meeting. Not only did we pie 4 (!) leaders, we raised $2,000 in two short weeks to help fund the Human Rights Campaign, which fights for the civil rights and human dignity of LGBTQ+ people everywhere. Thank you to our DE&I Committee, who advocates for the inclusion and equity of all in and out of our organization, our leadership volunteers, and most importantly, to all those who donated to get us to our goal.

  • Last week, C-4 Analytics led two days of strategy sessions, with assists from platform partners TikTok, Microsoft, and Tegna. We covered what actually matters right now: the AI search transition, measuring marketing by cars sold instead of clicks, why human-led creative is outperforming AI-generated content, and how first-party data can win back customers you didn't know you were losing. The industry is moving fast. This is how we make sure everyone who works with us moves faster. #automotivemarketing #aisearch #automotivedigitalmarketing

  • Proud to see our Organic Media team staying ahead of the curve! Google just rolled out new Search Console reporting for its generative AI features, including AI Overviews and AI Mode, giving us direct visibility into how dealer content performs inside AI-powered search. For our dealer partners, this is a big deal. Until now, measuring AI search performance meant relying on limited data and third-party tools. Now we can see impressions, track performance over time, and learn exactly which searches trigger AI Overviews and what content earns citations. This is the kind of signal that lets us help dealers win more real estate on an increasingly competitive SERP, and it's a real milestone in the evolution of search. Great take from Melyssa Cantor on what it means for the road ahead!

Big news for SEOs & C-4 Analytics' dealer partners: Google just announced new Search Console reporting for generative AI features, including AI Overviews and AI Mode. This is visibility, directly from Google, into how a dealer’s content performs within Google’s AI-powered search experiences, including impressions and performance over time. With this report, we’ll be able to improve our ability to help dealers understand organic discovery. We’ll be able to dive deeper into learning more about which searches trigger AI Overviews, what type of content earns citations and most importantly, what is helping your website earn more real estate on an increasingly competitive SERP. This is a major step forward. Since AI Overviews launched, one of the biggest challenges for SEOs has been the lack of direct visibility into AI-driven search performance. We've been relying on limited data, external tools and educated guesses. Now, Google is giving us a way to measure and monitor AI visibility directly in Search Console. I haven’t seen reports roll out for any of our dealer partners just yet, but this is still a huge milestone in the evolution of SEO and AI search optimization.
