We are very excited to share that three new members have joined the Catawba Riverkeeper Board of Directors! Join us in welcoming Scott Veazey, the Enablement Executive for Network Services at Black Box Network Services; Sean Quinn, the Vice President/Charlotte Division Manager at Clancy & Theys Construction Co.; and Jeremy Burrell, who is happily retired and an avid explorer of our waterways. We are grateful for the diverse knowledge and experience that these new members will bring to our Board. We look forward to working with them to strengthen Catawba Riverkeeper's efforts to preserve, protect, and restore the Catawba-Wateree River basin for all who depend on it.

Join the Catawba Riverkeeper Board! The mission of Catawba Riverkeeper is to preserve, protect, and restore the waters of the Catawba-Wateree River Basin for all through education, advocacy, and engagement. Our organization is powered by our nearly 8,000 members across the 26 counties where the Catawba flows in North and South Carolina. Our Board of Directors serves as the representatives of those members, as well as the nearly 3 million residents of the basin. As such, we strive to have a board representative of the geographic, socio-economic, racial, and professional background of those residents so that their voices are heard and reflected in the priorities and programs of our organization. Members of the Board of Directors have 4-6 regular meetings annually and are also asked to join ‘ad hoc’ committees around issues, events, and projects as needed. While we have no monetary giving requirements, we do require board members to be members of Catawba Riverkeeper, which can be achieved through financial support or volunteer time. It is our hope that board members of Catawba Riverkeeper will view our organization and the work we do as one of their top priorities outside of their family and work life, giving them a level of investment and commitment needed to support the work of our professional staff who work across 3 offices and multiple field locations within the river basin. On Friday, our Board of Directors announced the resignation of our Executive Director, John Searby, and outlined the leadership transition plan to fill his role. John has served as the joint Executive Director for both Catawba Riverkeeper and Daniel Stowe Conservancy over the past two years and will remain with Catawba Riverkeeper throughout the search process. Once our new leader is onboarded, John will transition to serve exclusively as Executive Director of Daniel Stowe Conservancy. We are grateful for John's leadership and for the organizational growth that he has fostered over the last 6 years. As we begin our search for a new executive director, we look forward to finding a leader who will champion Catawba Riverkeeper's mission, as John has done so well during his time with us.
