EagleRock Land, a surface land and resource management company, has filed for an IPO under the symbol EROK. Among other things, the company operates across the Permian Basin, including both the Midland, where it has significant water handling infrastructure (TX), and Delaware (NM). It is reportedly targeting a valuation of $1–2 billion. Energy IPOs have been relatively rare in recent years, but the path of WaterBridge (IPO’d in 2024 and up ~3x) is certainly notable. EROK leadership includes CEO Greg Pipkin Jr. (formerly Infinity Natural Resources) and CFO Neal Shah (formerly Pioneer Natural Resources Company). We’ll be watching this one closely as it develops. We sponsored & competed (taking home 1st place!) in the DVG Memorial Golf Tournament (Harold Vance Department of Petroleum Engineering at Texas A&M University), wrapped up a 2-week ComboCurve Certification Course at UT Austin (Hildebrand Department of Petroleum and Geosystems Engineering), and spent time in the classroom presenting on Petroleum Economics at the College of Engineering, University of Louisiana at Lafayette. Oxy announced an oil discovery this week in the Gulf of America (Green Canyon), with partners Chevron and Woodside Energy. Results and next steps are currently being evaluated. The need for continued conventional exploration alongside the unconventional industry has been an important theme across the sector in recent years. Announcements like this are always exciting.
