Trust in leadership often starts at a lower baseline than it did just a few years ago. After years of disruption and change, it’s understandable that many employees are showing up with more questions and skepticism. The data reflects that shift. According to DDI's Global Leadership Forecast, trust in immediate managers fell 17 points, from 46% to 29%, between 2022 and 2024. That means leadership today isn't only about building trust. It's increasingly about repairing it. Trust rarely breaks because of one decision. More often, it's eroded over time as patterns emerge: 🟧Leaders ask for feedback but never explain what changed—or why it didn't. 🟧Decisions are announced without explaining the "why." 🟧Unanswered questions leave people to fill in the blanks. That's why transparency and authenticity matter more than ever. Employees don't expect leaders to have every answer. They want leaders who are honest about what they know, what they don't, and what comes next. What's one leadership behavior that has helped you trust a leader? #LeadershipTrust #LeadershipDevelopment #AuthenticLeadership

The time equation for HR and L&D is shifting. Less time on manual work. More time creating learning experiences that are relevant to your organization and meaningful to every leader. Where will you spend your time? Explore CoLab Studio: https://lnkd.in/gZVAnDGS

The poll results—and your experiences—were almost evenly split. Some of you have watched leaders completely transform. Others have seen promising changes disappear or never take hold at all. That range of experiences isn’t surprising. Leadership research has long shown that great leadership behaviors can be learned. But they don’t develop automatically. Lasting change doesn't happen because someone attends a single training session. It happens when development is relevant, practiced, reinforced on the job, and supported by the organization. Thanks to everyone who shared your perspective. The discussion is an important reminder that developing better leaders starts with creating the conditions where leaders are motivated to grow, and new behaviors can last.
One of the core beliefs behind our work is that leadership behaviors can change. Not overnight. And certainly not without effort. But with the right experiences, practice, coaching, and support, we've seen leaders grow in ways that transform how they lead—and the impact they have on their teams and organizations. Vote, then share in the comments: What do you think makes the biggest difference in helping leaders change?

“I knew I couldn’t be effective doing all the training.” That’s what Cathy Edwards, Organizational Development Manager at Boulder Community Health, realized as a one-person team building leadership development from the ground up. So she built a system that could scale. She secured grant funding for leadership development, then partnered with DDI to: • Certify internal facilitators • Deliver scalable leadership content • Embed leadership competencies into hiring, performance, and succession planning The results? 📉 Patient complaints reduced by 10% 📈 Leadership capabilities saw double-digit gains 📉 Employee turnover dropped from 29% to 20% over four years That’s the kind of measurable impact the DDI Customer Awards are built to recognize. Boulder Community Health earned the 2025 High Impact Award. 🏆 If your organization improved performance, built capability, or solved a business challenge, this is your moment to share your own story. When resources are stretched, L&D priorities should be driven by risk, not scale. Too often, organizations respond by trying to reach everyone equally: - One-size-fits-all programs - Open-access content libraries - Or pausing development altogether The result? Time and budget get spread across everything instead of the leadership challenges that matter most. Instead, ask: Where would leadership failure hurt the business the most? Maybe it’s the leaders responsible for your most business-critical operations. The capability your assessment shows most leaders struggle with. Or the strategic initiative that depends on leaders guiding people through change. Start there. You don’t have to solve every challenge at once. But you can reduce the risk by focusing development efforts where they’ll have the greatest impact. How does your organization decide where to invest in leadership development?

Leadership development deserves a different standard for AI. You’re influencing how people lead: coaching teams, making decisions, and navigating change. That's why these three capabilities are non-negotiable: 1️⃣ Proven leadership science and trusted content. Not just whatever the internet happens to say. 2️⃣ Strong governance and guardrails. AI should enhance expertise, not replace it. 3️⃣ The ability to understand your context. Content is most effective when it fits your organization’s culture, business priorities, and leadership challenges. What AI is built on shapes what leaders learn from it.
