  • Texas Rewrites Grid Rules for Data Infrastructure S.B. 6 gives ERCOT authority to disconnect large loads (≥75 MW) during emergencies, reshaping how AI, crypto, and data centers plug into the grid. Key Changes: • ERCOT can mandate curtailments • Voluntary demand response with 24hr notice • Streamlined colocation with generation • $100K+ interconnection fee • Disclosure of phantom load requests • Remote shutoff tech required • PUC oversight of private generation deals ERCOT expects load growth from 87 GW to 138 GW by 2030. Why It Matters? Texas isn’t slowing down — it’s laying down terms. Builders must now meet the grid in TX on TX terms: bring your own backup, show real intent, and participate in grid stability. This legislation marks more than a policy tweak — it’s a new covenant between electricity and compute. For new and existing large loads and generation, Distributed Sun can help turn curtailment and compliance risks into new financial opportunities. link: https://lnkd.in/eMn2v3Gi #TexasGrid #ERCOT #EnergyPolicy #GridReliability #DataCenters

  • Insightful perspective from our CEO & Founder Chase Weir on why permitting reform is critical for clean energy progress.

In 2008, the U.S. consumed more electricity than China. Today, China uses 2.5x more—and it’s on track to triple us soon. At Dentons’ Smart Cities & Connected Communities roundtable on permitting reform, energy leaders came together to talk solutions. Chase Weir, CEO & Founder of Distributed Sun and truCurrent, called out what’s holding the U.S. back:   “This country was built on cheap and abundant power. If we don’t apply that philosophy to our grid and unlock our grid, shame on us.”   He reminded the group that a kilowatt-hour isn’t just energy—it’s mechanical work, brain power, processing power, and working capital. He went on to say:   “Bipartisan permitting reform is essential. We need to recognize these inefficiencies impose enormous costs on our society. Broken, outdated, and poorly-conceived processes delay essential infrastructure, stall capital deployment, limit job creation, and hinder our ability to meet demand.”   It was the kind of moment that made moderator Clint Vince, Chair of Dentons’ U.S. Energy Practice, pause and say, “I think that’s an op-ed piece to publish, Chase.”   And it is. Because permitting isn’t just a regulatory hurdle—it’s central to how we power the future and stay globally competitive.    At truCurrent, we deploy solutions that strengthen the grid—including microgrids, battery storage, and fleet electrification—but they can’t scale fast enough without permitting reform. 📺 Watch the full discussion: https://lnkd.in/g89wajVb #EnergyTransition #EnergyPermitting #PermittingReform #GridResilience #CleanEnergyInfrastructure

We’re thrilled to announce that Eric Lustgarten has joined Distributed Sun and truCurrent as Vice President, Finance. Eric brings a wealth of experience in finance, strategy, and clean energy, with a proven track record of leadership across the renewable energy, real estate, and climate technology sectors.    Most recently, Eric served as Director of Finance at Prologis Energy and Global Head of Finance for Prologis Mobility, where he led M&A, strategy, and financing for the energy business with a large portfolio of solar, battery, EV, and other distributed generation assets. Eric also brings experience from Volta Media, A Shell Brand, Hygge Power, and Scout Clean Energy. His expertise includes corporate strategy, new market development, and strategic partnerships with utilities and corporate partners with whom he has advanced EV charging initiatives and innovative energy solutions.   At Distributed Sun and truCurrent, Eric will lead capital strategy and financial operations to ensure our projects are well-funded, well-structured, and built to deliver long-term value for all stakeholders. He will focus on optimizing financial outcomes while accelerating the deployment of clean energy solutions.    Eric asks the question, “What if we could efficiently capitalize energy assets exactly where and when electricity demand is rising?” Then we could help customers boost financial returns, deliver projects at the time they’re needed, and keep pace with the growing needs of electrification, data centers, EVs, and manufacturing as the grid is pushed to the limit.   Please join us in welcoming Eric to the team. We’re looking forward to the expertise and vision he brings to Distributed Sun and truCurrent.   #ProjectFinance #CleanEnergy #CapitalStrategy #ClimateTechnology #DistributedSun #NewHire #WelcomeToTheTeam
