Tamiko brings a tremendous wealth of educational leadership experience to the district, most recently serving as principal at Plymouth Middle School. She has a proven track record of educational leadership and building strong relationships to remove barriers to student success, with more than 15 years of administrative experience and having served as a coach-trainer with BARR Center (Building Assets, Reducing Risks). At District 196, building relationships is the foundation of our ALC philosophy. This morning, the Dakota Hills Middle School staff had the pleasure of meeting and welcoming Ann Giardino (Jar-d-no), the principal who will succeed Dr. Trevor Johnson, who is retiring after 17 years leading the school. Mrs. Giardino is currently principal at Oak-Land Middle School in Lake Elmo (Stillwater Area Schools). “Mrs. Giardino (Mrs. G to students) brings experience as a special education teacher, special education coordinator, middle school assistant principal, and head middle school principal,” shared Eric Hansen, director of secondary education. “She leads with a foundation of strong relationships, authenticity, and care for her staff, students, and community. She is a passionate educator and administrator with experience in creating school cultures where staff feel supported and families feel included. She has implemented evidence-based practices, created opportunities for shared decision-making, and cultivated a collaborative school culture. A familiar face to our students and families, Mrs. Schultz has served as our assistant administrator since 2021. Mrs. Schultz will be succeeding Tom Idstrom, who is retiring at the end of this year.
