🏈 While most CFL games are played on artificial surfaces, fans in Kelowna had the opportunity to watch professional football on natural grass as the BC Lions temporarily called the Apple Bowl home. The venue was expanded to host two CFL games while BC Place was unavailable during the big soccer tournament. The playing surface featured our Kentucky bluegrass cultivars Mercury, Sombrero and Blue Velvet, a combination chosen for exceptional wear tolerance, strong performance during hot summer conditions, and outstanding visual appeal.
