Last month, the Michigan Energy Workforce Development Consortium's (MEWDC) annual summit was hosted by Lansing Board of Water & Light. The summit's theme, "Powering Michigan’s Future Energy Workforce," emphasized how training initiatives, paid apprenticeships, and collaborative efforts across sectors are building Michigan's energy talent pipeline. The summit panel discussions addressed critical topics, including hiring veterans, which included DTE Energy's Gary Tanner as well as hiring from the returning citizen community, featuring Workforce Development Manager of Special Projects, Terrell Lockhart. DTE Energy's Karen Anderson-Wilson, Chris HooSang, Monique Johnson and Stephanie Stevenson joined energy industry colleagues from Consumers Energy and Walker- Miller Energy Services. Together with representatives from Michigan's Department of Corrections, Labor & Economic Opportunity and Michigan Works!, alongside educational partners including Lansing Community College, Lincoln Consolidated School District, Oakland County Integrated School District and others, the summit reaffirmed reflect the broad commitment to building Michigan's talent pipeline through partnership and collaboration. #HowWeServe

We're excited to announce today that Renee Tomina, senior vice president, Project Management Office, will take on leadership of DTE Gas, effective June 29. She succeeds Robert Richard, who is retiring after a distinguished 40-year career. In her new role, Renee will be president and COO of DTE’s natural gas utility, which serves 1.4 million homes and businesses across Michigan. She will guide the team as they continue to update and replace more than 4,000 miles of natural gas pipeline and infrastructure throughout the state, enabling the growth of the business and ensuring the continued reliability and safety of the system. Bob retires after a successful career in industrial operations and leadership, including 23 years at DTE, where he led critical functions across DTE Gas, IT, Customer Service, Corporate Services and major enterprise initiatives.
