Big milestone for PFAS research in Massachusetts! MassDEP has released the final report from its 2024 PFAS study, a project we proudly supported from concept to completion. From study design and field coordination to data analysis and report development, our team helped assess PFAS contamination in freshwater and coastal ecosystems across the state. The study analyzed fish, shellfish, macroinvertebrates, and surface water samples from 36 locations for 40 PFAS compounds, providing valuable new data on the occurrence and distribution of PFAS in Massachusetts. Congratulations to ERG team leads Rebecca DeVries, ScD and Anna Stanley Lee on this impactful achievement! 👏 Read more here: https://lnkd.in/eQG8C-9g #PFAS #WaterQuality #PublicHealth #MassDEP

Thanks to Patricio Pacheco and KSWV for having ERG's Holly Cannon and Robert Pickering on to discuss how we worked with the City of Santa Fe to evaluate the energy intensity of the city's water system. The study is empowering the City to understand the impact past water conservation efforts have had on meeting the city's sustainability and carbon reduction goals and estimate future energy and carbon savings that may be realized by additional water conservation efforts. https://lnkd.in/ewXvS4YX

🪸ERG's Diana Pietri, Ph.D. recently partnered with the Reef Resilience Network, with support from the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) Coral Reef Conservation Program, to design and lead a two-day workshop piloting a new Integrated Coral Disturbance Response Planning Framework. The workshop brought together 28 participants from key agencies and organizations across Guam, including the Guam Coral Reef Initiative, Bureau of Statistics & Planning, Division of Aquatic & Wildlife Resources, Environmental Protection Agency, Fisheye Marine Park, the U.S. Department of Defense, NOAA, the National Park Service, and the University of Guam Marine Lab. The framework is designed to strengthen local capacity for coral disturbance response. Through hands-on activities, participants worked through the full response cycle—from assessment and preparation to rapid response, and long-term recovery and adaptive management—using the framework to draft components of Guam’s integrated coral disturbance response plan. Participants also shared valuable feedback to help refine the framework ahead of its broader rollout. This workshop was held in partnership with the Guam Coral Reef Initiative, Department of Agriculture, and the NOAA Coral Reef Conservation Program.
