We are pleased to announce that Dr. Britt Newsome has assumed the presidency of the Evergreen Physician Leadership Council (EPLC). The EPLC is a nephrology-led advisory body that works in collaboration with Evergreen's Executive Leadership Team to provide guidance on clinical, operational, financial, and advocacy initiatives. Dr. Newsome's significant experience in value-based kidney care and his collaborative approach to working alongside fellow EPLC physician leaders position him well to lead the council as it continues to shape the future of kidney care. We'd like to thank our 2025-2026 president, Dr. Tom Watson for his past year of leadership and all the work he accomplished for our organization.

Kidney care is about more than treating a diagnosis. It's about understanding each person's unique needs and providing support that meets them where they are. We are honored to work alongside care team members like Shakiyra who are dedicated to delivering compassionate, whole-person care that helps patients and families feel empowered. 💚 “My approach to patient care is centered on providing holistic, patient-focused, and evidence-based care. I believe that every patient deserves to be treated as a whole person, not just for their diagnosis, but with attention to their emotional, cultural, and social needs as well. I strive to build trust through active listening, empathy, and clear communication, so patients and families feel supported and involved in their care decisions.” - Shakiyra Silva, Registered Nurse Educator

Better kidney care starts with giving physicians the resources they need to focus on what matters most: their patients. Evergreen works alongside nephrologists to provide support services that help practices identify risks sooner, engage patients more effectively, and navigate the growing complexities of CKD management. Clinical decisions always remain with the physician. We help strengthen the infrastructure around those decisions so patients receive timely, personalized support throughout their care journey.

Improving awareness around kidney disease and expanding access to earlier, more connected care is critical for patients and providers alike. Evergreen Nephrology is proud to work alongside physicians, care teams, and patients to help improve access to high-quality, patient-centered kidney care. Strong kidney care starts with listening to the physicians closest to the patient experience. “Evergreen’s approach is clearly focused on quality of care and direction from providers who are at the center of the care for those with renal disease. The approach gains significant value through listening, understanding and then enacting through the input of the nephrologists.” - Ashish Soni, Nephrology Associates Nashville At Evergreen, physician partnership is central to how we support care teams, strengthen coordination, and advance value-based care. #Nephrology #KidneyCare #ValueBasedCare
