  • Israeli founders keep proving one thing: you don't need to move to Silicon Valley to build global companies. That's exactly why Aleph just announced its $125M Fund V. The fund will continue backing Israeli founders building global technology companies from day one. Since launching in 2013, Aleph has backed companies including: • Melio • Healthy.io • Lemonade • Nexar • Windward • Bluevine • HiBob • Immunai • Env0 Rather than chasing every trend, the firm is doubling down on the strategy that built its track record: investing early and helping founders scale internationally. As AI reshapes every industry, funds with deep operational experience and global networks may have an even bigger advantage. Congrats to the entire Aleph team on Fund V. This 26 year old founder turned her childhood experience navigating the healthcare system into a $225 million startup. This year, Forbes named Abby Care to its Next Billion-Dollar Startups list. Meet Havi N., Founder & CEO of Abby Care. Born and raised in Baytown, Texas, Havi grew up the daughter of two Vietnamese immigrants. Her parents ran a nail salon. Havi spent her weekends and summers there. At 16, she taught herself to code. That same drive earned her a scholarship to Columbia University to study computer science. She interned at Google and Meta. But her first full-time job pointed her somewhere else entirely. At Songbird, a therapy startup, Havi led strategy and operations. She kept running into the same wall. She could not find in-home care for autistic children. Families were desperate. The system was broken. In 2021, Havi founded Abby Care to fix it. Her idea: train family members to become certified, paid caregivers, using the Medicaid funds already meant to cover that care. Many told her the system was too complex to touch. She went state by state anyway, untangling decades of policy just to find a way in. Investors took notice. Sequoia Capital, Thrive Capital, and Khosla Ventures backed her early. Today, Abby Care operates in eight states, with more piloting. Reflecting on where it all started, her answer is simple: "My life's mission is to empower the underserved." One of the most interesting healthcare founders of her generation. And she's only getting started 🥂 PS: Check out the EverythingStartups newsletter and these useful resources I have put together 👇 New VC funds database: https://lnkd.in/d7X8up9h 45+ startup accelerators https://lnkd.in/egQJgetD 60+ active Pre-seed to Series A investors: https://lnkd.in/eTKS-apX VC scout programs: https://lnkd.in/dwrTNziZ

  • Remember the basics 💜

Paul Graham published "Startups in 13 Sentences" back in 2009. If every founder only read one Paul Graham essay, I'd say this is the one. 17 years later, it's still highly relevant, and it captures many of the lessons founders spend years learning. 𝐇𝐞𝐫𝐞 𝐢𝐬 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐬𝐮𝐦𝐦𝐚𝐫𝐲:  1. Pick good co-founders 2. Launch fast 3. Let your idea evolve 4. Understand your users 5. Build something users truly love 6. Deliver exceptional customer support 7. Measure your growth 8. Keep your burn rate low 9. Focus on growth before revenue 10. Ignore distractions 11. Don't give up 12. Protect founder morale 13. Build something people genuinely want ♻️ Save the one-pager below and share with a founder friend to remind them what matters :) PS: Check out the EverythingStartups newsletter and these useful resources I have put together 👇 New VC funds database: https://lnkd.in/d7X8up9h 45+ startup accelerators https://lnkd.in/egQJgetD VC scout programs: https://lnkd.in/dwrTNziZ

  • Take notes ✍

a16z looked at hundreds of portfolio pivots and found the same 5 mistakes killing companies over and over. Founders think a pivot will save the company, but the wrong pivot can kill it faster than staying the course. And not because the team isn't capable. But because they're solving the wrong problem. Some of the biggest pivot mistakes a16z has seen across hundreds of startups: 🚩 Making the product free Price is rarely the reason people leave, lack of value is. 🚩 Bolting on AI because everyone else is A trendy feature isn't a strategy. AI only matters if it solves a problem your customers actually have. 🚩 Pivoting from B2B to consumer Selling to businesses and building for consumers require completely different muscles. Success in one rarely translates to the other. 🚩 Adding social features to improve retention If users don't love the core product, giving them more ways to share it won't change that. 🚩 Expanding before you've nailed one market Trying to support everyone usually means delighting no one. 𝐓𝐡𝐞 𝐬𝐭𝐫𝐨𝐧𝐠𝐞𝐬𝐭 𝐩𝐢𝐯𝐨𝐭𝐬 𝐮𝐬𝐮𝐚𝐥𝐥𝐲 𝐥𝐨𝐨𝐤 𝐯𝐞𝐫𝐲 𝐝𝐢𝐟𝐟𝐞𝐫𝐞𝐧𝐭: ꘎ Double down on your biggest fans Study the users who can't live without your product and build more for them. ꘎ Reposition instead of rebuilding Sometimes the product is right, but the category or messaging is wrong. ꘎ Use what you've learned Every failed experiment gives you information. The best founders use those insights to build the next version faster. ꘎ Question industry assumptions Instead of copying competitors, ask what everyone else believes that might be wrong. In a nutshell, the best pivots aren't about changing everything but about getting closer to the problem customers actually need solved. Check out the one pager below for the full breakdown by a16z. 👇 What's the biggest pivot you've seen succeed, or fail?
