FlyteHealth Co-Founder Dr. Katherine Saunders, MD, FTOS joined Good Morning America to discuss an important and often overlooked topic: how GLP-1 medications may affect fertility and contraception. At FlyteHealth, we believe cardiometabolic care must go beyond the prescription. Our comprehensive clinical model addresses each patient’s broader health needs—including reproductive goals, contraception, and pregnancy planning—to support safe, personalized treatment. Thank you to Good Morning America and ABC News for highlighting this important conversation. Watch the segment: https://lnkd.in/eska6TZG
📺 This morning’s Good Morning America cover story asked an important question: Can GLP-1 medications boost fertility? GLP-1s are not fertility medications. But for some women with obesity, insulin resistance and/or PMOS, treating underlying metabolic dysfunction can improve ovulation and fertility - sometimes before they realize it. Another critical point: tirzepatide, sold as Mounjaro and Zepbound, may temporarily reduce the effectiveness of oral birth control. The FDA recommends backup or non-oral contraception for four weeks after starting treatment and for four weeks after every dose increase. These medications are powerful tools, but every prescription should include a conversation about reproductive goals, contraception and pregnancy planning. Thank you to the Good Morning America and ABC News teams for including me in this important conversation.
