Robotics has the potential to transform biotech, but building for the lab comes with a unique set of challenges. I sat down with Multiply Labs CEO Fred (Federico) Parietti for a chat about why Fred started the company, what makes biotech manufacturing so difficult to automate, and how robotics could help make advanced medicines more accessible. Fred also explains what it takes to build reliable robotic systems for highly regulated environments, the lessons Multiply Labs has learned along the way, and the impact this technology could have on the future of cell and gene therapies, antibodies, and other advanced biologics.

26 days until #Actuate26! Excited to have Cheng Chi, Co-Founder & CTO at Sunday, as a speaker this year! During his PhD at Columbia and Stanford, Cheng invented Diffusion Policy — a manipulation learning framework that outperformed every prior method by 46.9% across benchmarks and has since become foundational across the robotics industry. At Sunday, he is building Memo, a home robot trained via human-worn skill capture gloves that collect natural dexterous demonstrations, creating a data flywheel that compounds with every household deployment. Space for this year's Actuate is limited. Get your tickets to hear Cheng, and 20+ other technical experts in autonomous robotics, share their challenges & breakthroughs on stage: https://hubs.li/Q04mHGyl0

  • Actuate 26 attendees — gear up! UFB - Ultimate Fighting Bots is bringing UFB Robot Fight Night to Actuate. Ultimate Bots take center stage on night one of #Actuate26. Grab a drink, a bite to eat, and gather around the cage for an action-packed evening. Want to pilot one of the robots during the fight? Re-share this post and comment "Fight!" — we'll reach out to a select few to take the controls in one of the featured matchups.

27 days until #Actuate26! Excited to have Abhinav Das, Co-Founder & CEO at Orangewood, as a speaker this year! A serial entrepreneur with a background in autonomous vehicle engineering, Abhinav co-founded Orangewood Labs through Y Combinator to democratize access to robotic arms for small and medium businesses. Orangewood built the world's first commercially available generative AI-powered robot arm, allowing anyone to reprogram a robot with a plain-language text or voice prompt — making industrial robotics accessible to businesses that couldn't previously afford the integration costs. Space for this year's Actuate is limited. Get your tickets to hear Abhinav, and 20+ other technical experts in autonomous robotics, share their challenges & breakthroughs on stage: https://hubs.li/Q04mHx_L0

28 days until #Actuate26! Excited to have Fred (Federico) Parietti, Co-Founder & CEO at Multiply Labs, as a speaker this year! Fred earned his PhD in robotics from MIT studying supernumerary robotic limbs before co-founding Multiply Labs to tackle one of the most overlooked automation gaps: cell and gene therapy manufacturing, which is still done almost entirely by hand. Multiply Labs' robotic clusters use imitation learning to replicate expert scientists' techniques with sub-millimeter accuracy 24/7, delivering a 74% cost reduction and zero contamination compared to manual production — and are now deployed with partners at UCSF and Stanford. Space for this year's Actuate is limited. What an INCREDIBLE weekend. I ended up snagging the second spot at the Axiometa X Anthropic hardware hackathon! I made a hardware in the loop (HITL) data flywheel where a dummy robot and it's simulation counterpart would work in lockstep, measure sim vs real data on Foxglove and have sonnet-5 give feedback on its differences - all of this in real time. An attempt to understand the sim2real gap. Amazed by how easy it was to prototype on Axiometa's hardware and the projects built by the participants. Greatful for the builders and hackers I've met. 29 days until #Actuate26! Excited to have Jason Ma, Co-Founder at Dyna Robotics, as a speaker this year! A former research scientist at Google DeepMind, NVIDIA, and Meta, Jason built his career developing foundation models for robotics before co-founding Dyna. Dyna's DYNA-1 foundation model runs fully autonomously for 24-hour production shifts with a 99.4% success rate, and the company raised $120M Series A to scale general-purpose dexterous robots across food service, hospitality, and manufacturing. Space for this year's Actuate is limited.
