Houston partner Gregg Costa — a former Fifth Circuit judge — and five of his former clerks who are now colleagues at Gibson Dunn are featured in The AmLaw Litigation Daily. Gregg practices alongside former clerks Matthew G. Aiken, Daniel Rubin, Janae Staicer, Arjun Ogale, and Blake Ellison. "I call him 'Judge,' and I always feel kind of silly because everybody else on our cases calls him 'Gregg,'" Daniel said. "It's a hard habit to break." Working with his former clerks has alleviated one of the concerns that Gregg had about stepping down from the Fifth Circuit to join the firm. "That concern I had about leaving the bench and no longer having those relationships [with clerks], it hasn't borne out," he said. "I've been able to work still with five people who I really respect, really enjoy, know their significant others and see them develop."
