  • This is not a theory. Across a recent multi-state dealer tour, the pattern was consistent: the majority of stores visited were breaking even or losing money on vehicle sales. Mercedes stores. VW stores. Domestic stores. The service department and parts? That's where the margin lives. Fixed ops is carrying the business. And yet: most of those same dealers have no systematic way to pull customers back for service. No proactive reminders. No visibility into DTC codes on the vehicles they just sold. No way to call a customer before they defect to a shop down the street. Service defection costs twice. You lose the RO and you lose the vehicle sale. The dealers who win the next three years will be the ones who turn vehicle health data into a retention engine. That's the conversation worth having. Hear how one dealership leader views the changing role of fixed operations and why proactive service retention has become a business priority. • Almost every service director we walk into assumes the same thing: "How much is the monthly subscription?" They've been conditioned by every other telematics product in the market. Data costs money every month. There's always a fee. There's always something to cancel. Not here. The customer buys a term at the F&I desk. One year. Three years. Five years. The vehicle health data flows to the dealer for the full term. No monthly bill. Nothing to cancel. Nothing to forget to renew. The service department gets the data in perpetuity until the term runs out or the car is sold. For service directors trying to build proactive outreach programs around real vehicle data, that's a completely different infrastructure than a subscription product. It's a commitment. No cancellation risk. No lapsed accounts. Just data. Hear how one dealership leader describes the impact of a term-based approach—and why it's changing the conversation around service retention. • A customer drove 45 minutes to test drive a car. They wanted that specific car. They were ready to buy. They walked up. The battery was dead. No porter had checked it the night before. Did they leave? Probably not that minute. They were cordial about it. Did they buy the car? Probably not with the same confidence. One dealership leader recently shared that they save 15–20 deals per month this way. Not from theft. From vehicles that show up ready. Battery state of charge visible from the dashboard the night before. No surprises on the lot. The deals you lose to bad vehicle presentation don't show up as a line item anywhere. They just disappear. Vehicle health data closes that gap before the customer ever arrives. Watch the video: https://lnkd.in/gKE_bgrk #DealerOps #VehicleHealth #GSM #SalesProcess #LotManagement

  • If service revenue isn't a top priority for your dealership this year, how exactly are you planning to hit your numbers? Proactive vehicle health notifications are a game-changer — and most dealerships still aren't using them. Instead of waiting for a customer to notice a warning light (or worse, wait until something breaks), you already know what their vehicle needs. That means you can reach out first, on your terms, before they even think about calling around. You're not chasing service revenue anymore. You're earning it before the competition even knows there's an opportunity. #servicerevenue #customerretention #guidepointsystem #franchisedealers

We heard it twice on a single dealer tour. "Location is played out." These were dealers talking about legacy GPS products on their lots. Not complaints. Just facts. Latitude and longitude tells you where a car is. It doesn't tell you the battery is at 8% charge. It doesn't read the DTC fault codes. It doesn't catch a mileage discrepancy between the GPS odometer and the real one from the OBD-II port. (Those discrepancies run 15-20% on average. On a 50,000-mile car, that's up to 10,000 miles you didn't know about.) The dealers moving fastest right now aren't asking "does it track theft?" anymore. They're asking "what does it do for service revenue after the sale?" That's a different question. And it requires a different product. Hear directly from a dealership leader about how Guidepoint Systems is helping drive operational visibility, improve customer engagement, and create value beyond vehicle location. • 70% of dealers we talk to sell more used than new. And most of them have zero data on those cars after they leave the lot. The OEM connectivity? It expires. Or it never applied in the first place. What they're left with: a used car customer with no visibility, no proactive service touchpoints, and no reason to come back unless something breaks. Used car ROs average $500 per visit. Three or more visits per year. That's $1,500 in annual service revenue per vehicle. Per vehicle. A telematics device at the right cost basis doesn't just pay for itself. It unlocks recurring revenue your service department is currently leaving on the table. The stores getting this are not going back. #UsedCars #FixedOps #ServiceRevenue #Telematics #DealerGroup
