About us
Habitat for Humanity is a movement of people in your local area and around the world, working together to build more prosperous and vibrant communities by making sure everyone has a safe, affordable place to call home. Since our founding in 1976 as a Christian organization, together we have helped more than 62 million people in countries around the world build their futures on their own terms through access to decent housing. We’ve done that by working alongside people of all walks of life to build, repair and finance their homes, by innovating new ways of building and financing, and by advocating for policies that make constructing and accessing housing easier for everyone. Together, we build homes, communities and hope. To learn more, visit habitat.org.

"Housing affects health. It affects education. It affects livelihoods, economic development and ultimately human dignity. The question isn't simply how we build more homes. It's where we build them, how they connect to opportunity and how they fit into the broader systems that make cities work." Hear more from our CEO Jonathan Reckford in his discussion with Antonio Gomez-Palacio, Chair of DIALOG, about the need to reimagine housing as the foundation of healthier, more resilient and prosperous communities. Read the full conversation on the World Economic Forum website: https://lnkd.in/ghT5Rd7w
The global #affordability crisis is fundamentally a liveability crisis and addressing it requires not only increasing the supply of #housing, but also creating communities where transportation, healthcare, education, jobs and other essential services are accessible and affordable. Antonio Gomez-Palacio of DIALOG and Jonathan Reckford of Habitat for Humanity International explain why better housing policy focuses on preventing instability before families reach crisis, not simply responding after the fact: https://lnkd.in/e3fUvTYR
