We’re movin’ on up!! Handel’s Homemade Ice Cream jumped up 22 spots on Technomic, Inc.'s Top 500 Chain Restaurant Report, coming in at #234! The upward movement on this list is significant because Technomic ranks the top 500 restaurants in the United States by annual sales. The reason for our jump is simple: • Our sales continue to increase year over year • We have 10+ years of same-store sales increases • Our $1.12M AUV is one of the highest in the dessert category • 60% of our growth comes from existing franchise owners - which is a reflection that our business model works. Handel’s Homemade Ice Cream is excited to announce our expansion into Illinois for the first time, with a multi-unit agreement in Chicagoland! The new Handel’s locations will be developed in Elgin, Geneva/St. Charles, and Alogonquin, with the first location slated to open in the third quarter of 2027. This continues an exciting trend of new market development for Handel’s in 2026. So far this year, we’ve made our debut in Florida and Washington, and we’ve signed over 20 new parlors in Arizona, California, Colorado, Idaho, Oregon, Tennessee and Texas! We want to extend a HUGE congratulations to our newest franchisee, Castro Rafeedie. Castro is a seasoned restaurant operator with deep family ties to the Chicagoland community, and as a native of Youngstown, Ohio, Castro has been a fan of our brand from the get-go!
