Earlier today, Harmony Biosciences preannounced preliminary, unaudited second quarter 2026 net product revenue, representing a new quarterly revenue record for the Company and growth of 30% year-over-year and 21% growth for Q2 over Q1. Lennox-Gastaut syndrome (LGS) is a rare and severe form of epilepsy, characterized by treatment-resistant seizures and developmental delays. LGS develops over time, beginning in early childhood between the ages of 3 and 5 years old, and most individuals living with LGS experience at least one behavioral, motor, or cognitive-associated condition, which persists into adulthood. Idiopathic hypersomnia (IH) is a rare and debilitating sleep disorder characterized by excessive daytime sleepiness (EDS) despite sufficient or long sleep time. Individuals living with IH may also experience unrefreshed sleep, difficulty awakening, cognitive dysfunction, and autonomic symptoms. Unlike typical sleepiness, symptoms are usually not relieved by naps or longer sleep. The cause of IH remains unknown, though it may be related to alterations in brain regions that regulate sleep and wakefulness. Some patients also report a family history of similar symptoms. Approximately 80,000 people in the United States are believed to be affected by IH, with only about 40,000 currently diagnosed. One area that excites Phil most is Harmony’s research in Dravet syndrome, a rare epilepsy syndrome often caused by a mutation in the SCN1A gene.
