No Sunday Scaries here — we spent our weekend partnering with Sunday Club to bring a little screen-free fun to the streets of NYC. Together, we created The Present Times: a newspaper with no news, only puzzles and games designed to engage the mind and inspire a bit of nostalgia. For an afternoon, we helped inspire people to put down their phones, pick up a pencil, and get lost in some puzzles for a while. So much gratitude to the team that made it happen, and to everyone who stopped by to say hi, grab a paper, and hang out in the present with us! 🤗

Statistically, it’s more than likely that your employees are experiencing chronic strain. 92% of workers are facing it right now, according to our 8th annual Workforce State of Mind report. It's the slow buildup of mental and cognitive pressure that never fully lets up — and it's affecting how employees sleep, focus, make decisions, and show up at work. In our webinar, our Chief People Officer Lisa Mulrooney Gross and our Psychiatry Lead Dr. Neeru Bakshi MD sit down with HR and benefits leaders from Edward Jones and Advocate Health to unpack what’s driving what's really driving it, where employer support is falling short, and what leading organizations are doing to build resilience. Burnout myths: 🚩 "It'll go away eventually” — okay, but not without you making the space to heal from it 🚩 “You can just push through it" — sprinting through burnout sounds like a good way to make burnout worse 🚩 "You have to quit to fix it" — maybe in some cases, but sometimes some strict boundary-setting and intentional rest can do the trick 🚩 "Talking about it is weak" — experiencing it is human and talking about it is human and vulnerability is powerful, actually

The stress continuum, broken down: ⤵️ ⛅️Stress, in the right amount, can be good for us. It can build confidence, especially when we have help to navigate it. ☁️ Distress is when the weight shifts from growth into survival, and the resources we need to recover just aren't there. ⛈️ Trauma is when it doesn't stop — it can be too much or too little, for too long, without a safe place for the nervous system to land. This can be something that happened that shouldn't have, like a violation, but it can also be something that didn’t happen, like the protection that wasn’t there, or the comfort that never came. Wherever you fall on this continuum, your nervous system isn't stuck. With the right support, we can begin to understand and reshape our responses. As trauma expert Linda Thai reminds us, "we can always begin again." 🧡 Explore the Navigating Trauma collection in the Headspace app — with conversations on understanding trauma, finding your inner safe place, and reconnecting with your resilience.
