Connecting design & build pros and homeowners with the best home technology integrators and top technology brands
About us
Until now, the landscape of home tech experts, Integrators, the "A/V guys", etc has been rocky. Unlike medicine, law, or architecture, there exists no real qualification process to call oneself a “home technology professional”. This low barrier of entry has resulted in countless sub-par technology experiences for consumers. Everyone has suffered. Consumers own homes that they cannot operate, manufacturer's names are sullied, and qualified home technology firms are faced with an untrusting public. The Home Technology Association (HTA) has changed that. Historically, homeowners have chosen firms based on price or the personality of a salesperson, and typically do not perform enough due diligence on prospective integration firms. This has often led to hiring the wrong company, leaving homeowners frustrated. The HTA objectively evaluates a firm's capabilities and helps homeowners not only hire a great firm, but also the right fit for the size & complexity of project. We share data and expertise with homeowners & design/build professionals so that they are adequately informed to partner with the right company for their needs. Through a rigid set of evaluation criteria, we created a certification system that identifies and classifies the best technology firms. HTA Certification is built around 3 pillars: 1 - TECHNICAL COMPETENCY We believe that only technically-skilled firms have the ability to deliver a great home technology experience. We certify only the firms with a stellar history of technical expertise. 2 - AFTERCARE SERVICE Technology is not perfect and is ever-changing. We believe homeowners need a responsive company to work with for ongoing customer service and support. 3 - REPUTATION A strong track record of being fair and honest is vital. We believe every HTA Certified company should inspire trust and confidence. The HTA aims for great home technology experiences delivered by skilled, trustworthy companies who deliver exceptional customer service.

The Krix Modular MX behind-screen systems shown here are built on the same technology found in over 4,000 commercial cinemas. An HTA Platinum supporter, Krix has spent more than 50 years engineering loudspeakers in Australia, known for bringing cinema-grade sound into the home with both power and musicality. Behind the screen, that means definition and accuracy across every soundtrack. https://lnkd.in/gMi7ZUJf

As an HTA Platinum sponsor, L-Acoustics brings the same audio engineering trusted at Glastonbury and Coachella aboard a superyacht. The company has spent 40 years building sound systems for the world's biggest venues and artists. Their Home & Yacht team takes that professional technology and designs it into architectural spaces, like the ultra-shallow Soka shown here, integrated discreetly wherever the client happens to be. https://lnkd.in/e6JV9Wpn

HTA integrators just get it.
Here's a detail most homeowners never think about, and it decides whether their windows look effortless or awkward for the next 20 years: the shade pocket. The Home Technology Association just ran a piece in their "Better Homes Through Better Coordination" series that gets it exactly right. Motorized shades aren't a finishing detail you bolt on at the end. They're building infrastructure. A recessed pocket has to be absorbed into the wall, the ceiling, or the roof cavity, which means the wall has to be thick enough and the slab deep enough to hold it. As architect David Lee puts it, you can't show a client a thin floor slab and then surprise them with a shade pocket later. That decision gets made in the drawings, long before there's drywall to hide anything behind. That's why the integrator belongs in the room early. Not to sell anything at Schematic Design, but so the pocket, the wiring path, the mechanical space, and the display concealment are all planned while the design is still flexible. Bring us in late and the options shrink to "where can we make it fit." Bring us in early and the technology simply disappears into the architecture. This is also where running RevampIT Audio Video as a husband-and-wife team actually shows up in the work. I tend to push on performance and coordination, the cavity depths and wire paths that make it function. Courtney Thompson pushes on how it looks and feels, the clean ceiling line with no hardware fighting the design. A good shade detail has to win on both. That's the whole point. The best home technology is the kind you never notice. That only happens when it's designed in, not added on.
