Creating a stronger future for manufacturing starts with expanding opportunities in STEM. IACMI Member, OPmobility is helping inspire the next generation of women in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics through its support of Elles bougent, an organization dedicated to encouraging young women to pursue technical and engineering careers. As David Meneses, OPmobility's Executive VP People & Sustainability, shared: “Beyond gender diversity, this is a strategic challenge for the competitiveness and future of our industry. Elles bougent delivers concrete results by inspiring young girls through powerful role models and real-life stories. It’s been a fabulous week at the inaugural bootcamp for #composites at Northland Community and Technical College and National Center for Autonomous Technologies (NCAT) in #Minnesota, with participants from a high school student to a CTE program manager, from IACMI employees to seasoned airplane mechanics at Northrop Grumman. The focus on this weeklong camp has been on Composites in Aerospace, and it has been hands-on all the way. From wet lay-ups to build a fiberglass fuselage to using carbon fiber prepreg on the wing, we’ve cut, layered, vacuumed, sanded, glued, and assembled a model plane. Then we tried flying one! We wrapped up the week with tours to Cirrus and Altoz, Inc., to see what we had been learning on an industrial scale. It’s the first of many great training opportunities! Marianne Donoghue, Margaret Slattery, Howard Brockhouse, Adam Mahne, Zach Bladow, Kirsten Michalke, Chad S.

It's not every day you come across a racehorse named CARBON FIBER... and if you work with carbon fiber and advanced composites, you know we weren't about to let that gallop by unnoticed. 🏇 We're rooting for the only Carbon Fiber we don't have to cure in an autoclave. May every stride be lightweight, incredibly strong, and engineered for first place. 🏁 https://lnkd.in/eiQR9k4B
