Chat, as an AI native user experience, is optimized for conversation and query. However, as we move to using AI to create (vs query) -- be it a video, a project plan, a music play list, a travel itinerary, a shopping pin-board, a data dashboard -- we are seeing the evolution of AI chats: A rich yet minimal app specific UI canvas, augmented with chat for fine grained control. The chat eliminates the need for advanced UI options, while the UI canvas is optimized for directly interacting with artifact you are creating or modifying. This is one of the areas we really dove deep into as we designed Jams, which helps you create & share beautiful videos without need for editing. The final artifact is a composed video based on various inputs, which can often be one-shotted. Simultaneously, the UX ensures that there is no ceiling on the creativity you can apply as you change the style and other visual elements of the video. The recent OpenAI launch of the App SDK also leans into this model and is opening up the path for moving from just chats to rich interactive creations. Excited to see how this pattern evolves.
