PROJECT UPDATE: The Depot on Detroit is taking shape above the slab. Since the completion of the concrete slab-on-grade, wood and steel framing have been moving quickly and are now nearing completion on the first floor. MEP preinstalls are also complete, helping set the stage for the next phases of construction. The team was also happy to report that there are currently no open RFIs on the project - always a welcome update on site. We’re featuring our JGJ summer interns on their weekly site visit from the roof of the first floor. Don’t worry, they were supervised and we promise they left the framing to the professionals. (Thank you 84 Lumber!) Great work by the project team as Depot on Detroit continues moving forward safely and efficiently. #ConstructionUpdate #NewConstruction #GreaterCLE #MultifamilyHousing #AffordableHousing #CommunityDevelopment #JGJConstruction #SummerInterns #InternshipProgram #GreaterClevelandRTA

Check out this first look at one of the Lake County rest areas for the Ohio Department of Transportation. This municipal project (like the Delaware and Summit County rest areas) involved the demolition of the existing buildings and new construction designed to better serve Ohio travelers. The scope also includes sidewalk and walkway improvements, landscaping, signage and graphics, wastewater system updates, and vehicular circulation improvements. At the eastbound location, tile installation is currently underway. Signage installation and exterior masonry work are expected to begin soon, with restroom amenities such as sinks, toilets, hand dryers, and related fixtures to follow. Construction is anticipated to be completed in October 2026. #ConstructionUpdate #ODOT #LakeCounty #Travel #RestArea #MunicipalConstruction #Infrastructure #NewConstruction #OhioConstruction

Work is advancing at the northbound ODOT rest area in Delaware County, with the building moving into several visible stages of completion. Windows have been installed, roofing is almost finished, and drywall is now in place throughout the building. Masonry work is active on site, supporting the exterior finish and helping bring the facility closer to its final form. In the coming weeks, tile work is expected to begin, followed by the installation of restroom amenities, including sinks, toilets, and additional interior finishes. Great work by the entire project team, this site is almost ready to serve Ohio travelers this Fall. #ConstructionUpdate #Travel #ODOT #DepartmentofTransportation #RestArea #NewConstruction #OhioConstruction #Infrastructure

We're proud to have partnered with the Ohio Women's Affordable Housing Network and Operation Meraki to help bring the Giving Gardens project to life at The Commons at Livingston. From filling raised beds to planting fresh produce, our team enjoyed spending the day giving back alongside volunteers who share a passion for building stronger, healthier communities. Thank you to OWAHN for leading this meaningful initiative and allowing us to be a small part of its impact! #BuildingBrighterFutures #CommunityImpact #AffordableHousing #GivingBack #OWAHN #GivingGardens
OWAHN and Operation Meraki recently came together to bring the Giving Gardens initiative to life at The Commons at Livingston, a National Church Residences community in Columbus, Ohio. With the help of dedicated volunteers from John G. Johnson Construction Company and the Columbus Metropolitan Housing Authority, six raised garden beds were filled with fresh soil and planted with a variety of fruits, vegetables, and herbs to benefit the veteran residents. A seventh garden bed, handcrafted by a resident veteran, is ready to be planted in the future. Thanks to the generous donation of plants from Strader's Garden Center, the gardens are already taking root, and the community greenhouse has been fully equipped with the tools and supplies needed for a successful growing season. This project would not have been possible without the generous grant awarded to OWAHN by the Columbus City Council, whose support helped bring the Giving Gardens initiative to life and provide fresh food, connection, and opportunities for residents to grow together. #OWAHN #WAHN #GivingGardens #Veterans #FoodSecurity #Columbus

This week, John G. Johnson Construction was proud to join Judson Senior Living and their community partners to celebrate the groundbreaking of the future A. William & Joanne Reynolds Memory Care Neighborhood at South Franklin Circle in Chagrin Falls. This expansion will include 36 specialized memory care residences, thoughtfully designed to support individuals living with dementia (and their families) through comfort, dignity, safety, and connection. We’re honored to help bring this important vision to life and look forward to seeing this neighborhood addition take shape through late 2027. #Groundbreaking #MemoryCare #SeniorLiving #ChagrinFalls #SouthFranklinCircle #JudsonSeniorLiving #OhioConstruction #ConstructionManagement #NewConstruction #HealthcareConstruction

This historic renovation in Cleveland continues to move forward, with work progressing across the building’s interior, exterior, and structural elements. Steel framing, ironwork, and masonry are ongoing, while concrete was recently poured in several areas throughout the site. Window installation is nearing completion. Inside, three floors of drywall have been completed, and painting is underway on Floors 2–4. Looking ahead, roof and dormer framing are set to begin soon, and mechanical equipment installation is now underway. We’re doing construction through careful preservation of the existing structural elements and the incorporation of new systems, finishes, and craftsmanship - all while learning a bit of architectural history along the way. #HistoricRenovation #ConstructionUpdate #Renovation #Construction #Preservation #BuildingRestoration

Winston-Salem Phases II & III are full speed ahead. Building 14 is currently the furthest along of the 14 structures included in these phases, which will bring a combined 114 new residential units to the area. Recent milestones consist of the completion of all underground plumbing, including sanitary and water tie-ins to Cleveland Avenue. The Vapor Intrusion Mitigation System has also been completed for buildings 5, 6, 13, and 14. The slab pour is complete for building 6 and is expected to be completed soon for buildings 3 and 4. Finally, underground fire protection work is in place for building 4. The team is currently working on internet and MEP rough-ins, and framing has just begun on building 13. We are proud to continue working alongside McCormack Baron Companies, Aspire, Steele Group Architects, Urban Strategies, Inc, and the City of Winston-Salem to finish out this project. Each step brings this development closer to completion and supports the continued revitalization of the surrounding community. #WinstonSalem #CNI #ChoiceNeighborhoodInitiative #NewConstruction #Revitalization #MultifamilyHousing

JGJ has returned to Truth for Life! We cherished the opportunity to partner with Truth for Life of Chagrin Falls in 2017 for the original construction of their worship facility, and we’re grateful to be back on site for the construction of a new library wing. The addition, located on the west end of the existing building, will be approximately 4,000 square feet and will include a new basement and a two-story, wood-framed library and study area. As of last week, storm structures have been placed in the ground, and force main relocation is expected to begin soon. Looking ahead into July, the team will be digging the basement, installing footers, backfilling, and placing CMU block. We’re proud to continue our relationship with Truth for Life. Long-term partnerships like this are incredibly meaningful and valuable to us. #NewConstruction #ChagrinFalls #ConstructionUpdate #TruthforLife #TFL
