⚠️ This month, Sysdig and Sygnia each documented autonomous agents running the full attack chain with no human at the keyboard. An AI agent just ran a ransomware attack from start to finish on its own for the first time. ⚠️ Behind it is a threat operation known as JadePuffer. The attacker's agent broke into a server, harvested credentials, encrypted 1,342 configuration records, and redeployed a corrected payload 31 seconds after it hit an error along the way. Thirty-one seconds to catch its own mistake and fix it. That is the clock a defender is now up against. No human team triages, decides, and recovers that fast. But attackers are already operating at lightning fast machine speed. Defenses that still run at human speed are behind before they begin. This is the whole case for autonomous defense, made by the other side.
