Specialty High-Performance Composite Materials

About us

Kaneka Aerospace LLC (“Kaneka Aerospace”) is a subsidiary of Kaneka Corporation, a multi-billion dollar chemical company with 70 years of history. Kaneka Aerospace strives to be a global supplier of specialty high-performance composite materials. We create value through our disruptive technology that enables our customers to tackle even their most demanding application needs. These values can manifest in numerous forms ranging from unique material properties, manufacturing cost reduction, process efficiency, and sustainability, among others. Our technical capabilities, tightly managed AS9100D certified quality management system, efficient global supply chain, and our excellent technical support and customer service allow us to offer unique solutions to all customers. While short in existence, Kaneka Aerospace has made significant strides to reach our goals. Kaneka Aerospace was established in September 2017 after Kaneka acquired Applied Poleramic Inc., a formulated advanced resin supplier in the aerospace area with over 25 years of history in the composites industry. In January 2018, Kaneka Aerospace acquired Henkel Corporation’s portfolio of benzoxazine based high-performance composites business, further expanding its technology and product portfolio. Kaneka Aerospace recently invested in an in-house prepreg production line, which vertically integrates our unparalleled formulation expertise and resin manufacturing capabilities with prepreg production. Currently, Kaneka Aerospace products are offered in the form of formulated resins, prepregs, and adhesive films. We work hard every day to continue this progress and to offer industry-leading solutions and service to all of our customers. For more information, please visit us at www.kaneka-aerospace.com

  • Elevating Kaneka’s Presence in the Civil Aviation Supply Chain   On March 25, KAE President Dr. Ekaterina Ryjkina was invited to attend the COMAC (The Commercial Aircraft Corporation of China, Ltd) Supplier Conference in Chengdu, China, where over 400 global and local suppliers came together across the civil aviation value chain. Dr. Ekaterina Ryjkina also joined the Supply Chain Forum as a panelist, contributing to the discussion on “Anticipate, Improvise, Adapt – Risks and Challenges in the Civil Aviation Supply Chain.” It was a great opportunity to exchange perspectives with industry peers and stay close to how supply chain priorities are evolving across programs. This moment also reflects the continued progress of our collaboration with COMAC and the role Kaneka Aerospace is building with OEMs and Tier 1s. As the industry evolves, we’re focused on delivering material solutions that enable performance, reliability, and scalability across next-generation aerospace programs. #KanekaAerospace #AviationComposites

Bismaleimide (BMI) tooling prepregs offer high-temperature performance and durability for composite parts, yet longstanding manufacturing challenges impact cost and lead time. As David Leach discusses in his latest CompositesWorld piece, process evaluations show that novel BMI polymer chemistry addresses these issues, enabling an initial cure at 121°C on lower-cost master molds, followed by a 204°C free-standing post-cure. Key advantages include: - Reduced risk of vacuum bag failure from off-gassing, as nylon bags withstand exposure below 149°C. - Comparable tack, drape, and handling to legacy BMI systems, with at least 4 weeks out-time. - Maintained mechanical properties, toughness, and thermal stability, with less than 1.2% weight loss after 10,000 hours at 177°C. Evaluations by Janicki and Kaneka Aerospace on demonstration tools confirm durability through 84-137 cycles, with high-quality parts and vacuum integrity. For details on how this approach streamlines tooling for aerospace and high-growth composite applications, read the full article. https://lnkd.in/gMDXtE_z
