It was incredible to witness former Kaysville Mayor Steve Hiatt receive the prestigious Community Wingman Award from Hill Air Force Base! This honor, presented by the 75th Air Base Wing, recognizes outstanding and sustained service to the installation, its Airmen, and the broader Team Hill community—often celebrated at special events like New Year’s socials or command gatherings. The Community Wingman Award, given annually since 2007, highlights individuals whose actions consistently go above and beyond in supporting the base through leadership, advocacy, volunteerism, and partnership between the military installation and surrounding Utah communities. Steve Hiatt, a dedicated public servant and Kaysville native, certainly embodies this spirit. His accolades include: • Serving as Kaysville’s 38th Mayor (elected in 2009 and sworn in as the youngest mayor in Utah at the time), where he completed two full terms focused on community growth, emergency response, and quality-of-life improvements. • Served two years on the Kaysville City Council. Steve Leads Kaysville’s annual Patriarchal Devotional for Kaysville and the surrounding Davis County area, and fostering strong ties with nearby Hill AFB. His long-standing commitment to selfless service, community resilience, and bridging civilian-military relations makes this recognition well-deserved. Congratulations to Steve Hiatt on this well-earned honor—what a fantastic way to kick off the new year and celebrate those who strengthen our communities!

Kaysville City Corporation, Located at 23 East Center Street, Kaysville, UT 84037. Our telephone number is 801-546-1235. Kaysville is a city in Davis County, Utah, United States. It is part of the Ogden–Clearfield, Utah Metropolitan Statistical Area. The population was 20,351 at the 2000 census, and 25,820 as of the 2008 estimates. The Kaysville area was originally settled by Hector Haight shortly after Mormon pioneers arrived in 1847. He had been sent north to find feed for the stock and soon thereafter constructed a cabin and brought his family to settle the area. Farmington, Utah, also claims Hector Haight as its original settler. Two miles north of Haight's original settlement, Samuel Holmes built a cabin in 1849 and was soon joined by other settlers from Salt Lake, namely Edward Phillips, John Green, and William Kay.[4] Although settlement began in the 1840s, the name of Kaysville connects with the fact that in 1851 William Kay was made the bishop in the vicinity by Brigham Young and Heber C. Kimball. After the move south in 1858 (see Utah War) there was an attempt to rename the community Freedom, but Brigham Young convinced the residents to retain the old name. In 1868 Kaysville became the first city incorporated in Davis County. An adobe meetinghouse was built in 1863. Its was replaced by the Kaysville Tabernacle in 1914. In 1930 Kaysville had 992 people. They all were in the Kaysville Ward which also covered most of the rest of the Kaysville Precinct.
