Most banks can see that a new account application exists, and roughly what stage it's in. What they might not see is who's holding it up, how long it's actually been stuck, or whether the business owner already gave up and banked elsewhere. I have a confession to make … I recently opened a new business account and a community bank wasn't even in the running to get the relationship. The other owner and I aren’t in the same state, and we needed to get it set up fast. We couldn’t wait for days to get our legal documents verified, or come into a branch to physically put ink on a signature card. I went to one of the digital players and the experience was divine. But it made me sad. It made me sad because I love community banks. I know they are the lifeblood of the economy. I know they keep small businesses in business by ensuring they have access to capital. I want to support that. But I needed support from them (in the form of customer experience) that I knew the banks around me couldn’t provide. This article is about a company whose founder had a similar experience and did something about it. Something big. He raised millions of dollars and put his team through the absolute gambit of working with the cores to realize his vision of an ACTUAL end-to-end business account opening solution for community banks. It does everything — from the application to the fraud checks and funding and so much more — in a wrapper that’s intuitive for the bank’s team. He did it for love.
