How well do enteric capsules really maintain gastric integrity under fed state conditions? A new peer reviewed publication in the European Journal of Pharmaceutics and Biopharmaceutics addresses this question by evaluating the gastric integrity of enteric capsules using a Dynamic Gastrointestinal Model (DGM). In this study, researchers from Bioneer A/S, University of Copenhagen (Københavns Universitet), and Lonza Capsugel assessed Capsugel® Enprotect® capsules under fasted, light meal, and high fat fed conditions. The capsules remained intact throughout gastric transit in all tested states, with release occurring only after intestinal entry, and DGM based predictions aligned with previously published human MRI and salivary tracer data.
