Most people misunderstand what audit readiness actually means. They think it is documentation. Folders. Workpapers. Reconciliations. Journal entry support. PBC requests. But auditors are not really asking for files. They are asking for proof. - Proof of where a number came from. - Proof of how it was prepared. - Proof of who reviewed it before it was posted. For decades, accountants have been forced to stitch together that proof manually: - The journal entry lives in the ERP - The calculation lives in Excel - The review note lives in Slack - The approval lives in email When the auditor asks a question, the team has to reconstruct the chain. As agentic AI prepares more accounting work, the volume of work increases. The expectation for traceability does too. The question is no longer whether AI can prepare accounting work. The question is whether every number can still be traced from source to approval without reconstruction. We wrote about what auditability looks like in the age of agentic AI, and why the future of audit readiness depends less on documentation and more on continuous evidence creation: https://lnkd.in/gpjzMRfD

  • After 20 years across EY, Citi, Barclays, and Rubrik, our CEO Yogi Goel has seen every generation of accounting software. One thing never changed: accounting never got a system of work In his latest Forbes article, Yogi explores why the ERP became the system of record, but the work of accounting remained fragmented across spreadsheets, email, and manual processes and why that is finally beginning to change. • Yesterday in Forbes, our CEO Yogi Goel weighed in on how finance leaders navigate periods of market change. Finance leaders are operating through a uniquely difficult moment. Markets are shifting quickly. Customer behavior is changing without warning. Planning cycles are compressing. Teams are expected to make decisions with more data, more variables, and more uncertainty than ever before. Making sense of what matters and what does not has become increasingly difficult. Agentic AI can accelerate work. But speed alone is not the advantage. The advantage comes from giving leaders more time to apply judgment where it matters most. That same pattern is beginning to reshape finance and accounting operations more broadly. The opportunity is not replacing human expertise. It is reducing the amount of time teams spend assembling information so they can focus more of their attention on interpretation, analysis, and decisions. Human judgment becomes more valuable when systems prepare more of the work. More from Forbes below

  • 📍 Lunch & Ledgers, Episode 2 We sat down with the Glean accounting team over lunch to talk about how the world’s most advanced Work AI company is building toward touchless finance and real-time, SOX-controlled accounting with Maxima. Hear from the changemakers driving this shift firsthand, and why the future of accounting is built on top of the ERP, instead of a rip and replace.

  • Rippling processes 2.6M+ cash transactions every month across 150 bank accounts and 50+ active entities. Cash accounting sits at the center of their close, and the tolerance for error is zero. In the words of Vipin Sethi VP, Controller at Rippling, “The goal was not just a faster close. It was better accuracy and more time for quality reviews, reconciliations, and flux analysis.” Read the case study to see how Rippling achieves SOX-ready, transaction-level automation for cash accounting, with controls built in, maker-checker review enforced, and audit-ready evidence preserved. https://lnkd.in/gFwsDG_U

  • Last Wednesday, we hosted our first executive dinner in New York City. Senior practitioners, a full house, and conversations that ran into the night well past dinner. Accounting and finance leaders talking candidly about what the future of the industry looks like with agentic AI. New York is a wrap, but we're back in SF at Foreign Cinema next week. Same format, same energy. Accounting and finance leaders in the Bay Area: drop a comment if you'd like an invite. Seats are limited.
