The Water Resources Development Act of 2026 is an important opportunity to strengthen the infrastructure boaters, anglers, marinas and marine businesses rely on every day. This week, the House Transportation and Infrastructure and Senate Environment and Public Works Committees advanced their respective versions of WRDA 2026, a critical infrastructure bill that authorizes U.S. Army Corps of Engineers projects and helps guide how America’s water resources infrastructure is built, maintained and improved. NMMA extends its thanks to Senators Shelley Moore Capito, Kevin Cramer, Sheldon Whitehouse and Angela Alsobrooks for their leadership in advancing bipartisan Senate legislation that includes several key recreational boating industry priorities. This week, NMMA launched the Waterways Access Initiative, a multi-year advocacy campaign focused on protecting and expanding public water access, modernizing recreation infrastructure, supporting conservation, and strengthening the made-in-America recreational boating industry. With 88% of marine industry leaders citing boating infrastructure constraints as a barrier to growth, the need for action is clear.
