Last week I traveled to Austin for SXSW EDU, where Nuubi was selected as a semifinalist in the Launch Competition presented by the Walton Family Foundation. One theme kept coming up across conversations and panels: many educators want to integrate AI into teaching and student support, but the tools do not always match what schools actually need. Progress is happening through small, focused pilots tied to real classroom challenges, which also give students the opportunity to provide feedback on new tools, a valuable skill for the future workforce. These conversations also sparked a thought for me. While Nuubi was originally built for higher education, many of the same needs exist in K–12, where students and parents both benefit from clearer ways to ask questions and stay connected. SXSW EDU was a great reminder that the future of education will not be built by technology alone, but through collaboration between educators, students, and innovators willing to test ideas and keep improving.

WOW! I'm excited to share that Nuubi placed Second in the University of St. Thomas Business Plan Competition, Alumni/Graduate division! It feels like a full circle moment. I began my higher education journey at the University of St. Thomas, earning a BS in Statistics and a BA in Mathematics. In Fall 2024, I reconnected with the university through their gener8tor gBETA Accelerator, and this spring Nuubi was recognized as a finalist and runner-up in the Business Plan Competition. I’m incredibly proud to be an alum and grateful for the support and recognition from such a forward thinking university. A special thank you to Dean Danielle C. Ailts Campeau, D.B.A., Jessica Cooley, Beth Bagley, CPPM, and the teams at the University of St. Thomas - Opus College of Business and University of St. Thomas - Schulze School of Entrepreneurship, as well as mentors Kyle Andrews, Paul Taylor, Jeffrey Moore, MBA, and others for their guidance and encouragement.
