A wonderful night in Washington, D.C. this week, recognizing the countless ways that restaurants positively impact our communities.
Earlier this week in Washington, D.C., OpenTable hosted a room of leaders across hospitality, government, business, and media. Our goal was to celebrate and elevate the essential role restaurants play as both economic drivers and vital community anchors. When asked why we chose to host this event now, my response was simple. Advocacy for the restaurant industry shouldn't be reactive, it must be constant. Every single day, restaurant operators navigate incredible complexity with unmatched grit, heart, and dedication. Keeping their impact top of mind among policymakers and industry leaders requires sustained dialogue, not just periodic effort. I’m deeply grateful for the meaningful conversations throughout the evening and the energy everyone brought to the room. Special thanks to Tom Sietsema for the engaging Q&A, to the members of Congress who lent their time and voices to the discussion, and to the extraordinary DC chefs and operators who continue to push our industry forward. It was a privilege to be in the room with leaders like Masako Morishita, Paul Holder, Tim Ma, Scott Drewno, Matthew Adler, Fritz Brogan, Danny Lee, Javier Correoso and Gavin Coleman. Let’s keep the momentum going.
