World-changing technologies are being tested by companies from around the world on the network. All because the state built an asset everyone needed before they asked.   • One quantum computer is powerful. Connected quantum computers will be even more powerful. And connecting them is the next challenge. That's the vision behind Cisco's latest quantum networking work, as highlighted by The Silicon Review. Earlier this year, Qunnect and Cisco demonstrated that vision swapping entanglement over live fiber in Manhattan. At room temperature. Over existing telecom fiber. Through a commercial data center.     Entanglement networks will be a critical part of the US communication infrastructure, enabling applications beyond what is possible on today’s networks. Use-cases are emerging with heavy interest across the finance, telecom and defense sectors such as secure, pico-second time synchronization; quantum position verification; unspoof-able user authentication; network-aware quantum alarms, and distributed quantum sensing and computing. Yet, the key to them all is establishing automated, 24/7 operational entanglement links on already deployed fibers. The challenge in making this real for the US is the more than 40% of telecom fiber that is aerial and exposed to environmental effects and drifts. With our partners at National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST), we have shared the results of a demonstration using Qunnect ’s Qu-APC, now reviewed and published, showing entanglement can remain useful even in these challenging environments. Across 62km aerial fiber, we have shownthe first clear proof that even fibers exposed to these environmental challenges can be actively compensated and made suitable for entanglement distribution thanks to commercially available products like Qunnect's Carina.     Every current encryption method has the same weakness. Someone can steal the data now and wait for the computer that breaks it later. Quantum physics secures that lock completely instead of just closing it tighter. Entangled particles are highly sensitive and change the moment they are observed. With entanglement-based networks, eavesdroppers can't stay hidden the way it does on a digital line. Qunnect is building quantum networks to protect the most sensitive data with provably-secure communications. Security based on physics. Hardware and software working together.   • Manhattan is a hard place to prove a quantum network works. It's also the place that matters. The pristine environment offered by a lab provide the variables to test whether a network survives in the real world. Commercial fiber running through a busy city connected to a live data center does. GothamQ runs on exactly that. 17.6 kilometers through QTD Systems' data center at 60 Hudson Street in downtown Manhattan, carrying regular day-to-day data traffic the entire time. That's where Qunnect and Cisco broke the entanglement swapping record, close to 10,000 times past prior benchmarks. Qunnect's tech ensures entanglement survives Manhattan's fiber—proof it can ensure entanglement survives anywhere.
