Calling Richmond Small Business Owners! The City of Richmond’s Office of Minority Business Development is pleased to launch the PIVOT Symposium Learning Series, a set of free, expert-led courses meant to help business owners pursue public and private contracting opportunities. Topics include developing competency statements, writing competitive proposals, and leveraging artificial intelligence as a business support tool, among others. The series begins April 23 and runs through May, with weekly sessions held Thursdays from 6 to 7:30 p.m. Sessions will take place on the campus of Virginia Union University. We’re proud to see the Brown’s Island Improvement Project recognized in Landscape Architecture Magazine. Brown’s Island has long been one of the region’s most active public spaces, welcoming more than a million visits each year for events, recreation, and daily use, despite limited infrastructure. This project builds on that momentum by improving accessibility, strengthening connections to the James River, and creating a more welcoming, resilient park for both everyday use and major events.
