Making AI work since 2016

About us

Scale’s mission is to develop reliable AI systems for the world’s most important decisions. We provide the high-quality data and full-stack technologies that power the world’s leading models, and help enterprises and governments build, deploy, and oversee AI applications that deliver real impact. The Scale Generative AI Platform allows customers to build, evaluate, and control advanced AI agents and applications that continuously improve. The Scale Data Engine provides the technology to collect, curate, and annotate high-quality datasets. Through our Scale Labs, we test models with rigorous benchmarks and novel research to ensure breakthroughs translate into systems people can trust. Scale powers the most advanced LLMs and generative models in the world through RLHF, data generation and model evaluation. We work with industry leaders like Meta, Cisco, DLA Piper, Mayo Clinic, Time Inc., the Government of Qatar, and U.S. government agencies including the Army and Air Force.

A new healthcare future is possible, and we’re proud to be working with Mayo Clinic to make it happen. This partnership is about more than technology; it is about creating a better and more effective healthcare experience to streamline clinical processes, enhance clinical decision support, and create a more personalized patient experience. We are already seeing meaningful impact, including patients getting 11 more minutes on average with their doctors, because doctors can now be doctors, and not just record reviewers. It was great connecting with the research community at [ICML] Int'l Conference on Machine Learning 2026 in Seoul this week. Our Scale AI team showed up with seven accepted papers, poster presentations, and lightning talks at our booth, creating countless connections with researchers on the work we're doing to push the frontier of AI. A few things stood out to me, especially on where agent research is heading: —Both the research and industry communities are focused on bringing agents into real professional domains and enterprises. The conversation has moved past general demos toward agents that can do meaningful work in these areas autonomously and in a self-improving way. —Training methods are advancing fast. There was strong work on RL training recipes, system efficiency, and ways to build and simulate professional-domain environments. —The open challenges are still significant. Agents need stronger fundamentals in long-horizon tool use, cross-surface workflows, reliability, and adaptation to complex real-world environments. If you're excited about tackling some of the hardest problems in AI research, we'd love to hear from you. We're hiring: https://scale.com/careers

  • For 250 years, generations of Americans have built, served, and solved some of the world’s hardest problems. This Independence Day, we recognize those who have strengthened and defended our nation. National security and those who serve depend on reliable AI. We’re committed to building AI systems to help protect the next 250.

Only 6% of organizations are scaling AI successfully and moving pilots to production. What separates them is what they get right before deployment ever begins. The foundations, the people, and who they build with. In partnership with Reuters, we surveyed nearly 500 senior AI decision makers to map what's driving their success and how enterprises can learn from them. AI adoption isn't just a technology challenge. At New York Tech Week, Jonathan Goldberg, VP at Howard Hughes, joined Human in the Loop Live to share lessons from his organization's AI journey with us. His takeaway: the most successful AI initiatives happen when technology capabilities and business priorities meet. As Jonathan put it, it's about finding "the center of the Venn diagram." We spoke with over 50 healthcare professionals about what's holding AI adoption back in clinical settings, and one thing was clear: trust matters as much as model performance. Healthcare professionals need to understand where information came from, verify it against trusted sources, and feel confident relying on it in critical environments. These insights are helping shape how we evaluate models and build reliable AI systems that reflect real clinical workflows. Read our latest healthcare findings: https://lnkd.in/egpwYnA6
