Do you work in the FLAG sector? We want to hear from you. We have launched a project to develop Version 2 of the Forest Land and Agriculture (FLAG) Standard to make it interoperable with the Corporate Net-Zero Standard V2.0 We're gathering high-quality, real-world feedback to help shape FLAG V2.0 and ensure it reflects the operational realities facing companies today while remaining scientifically rigorous. Today, we're launching two opportunities to get involved: 1) Call for Evidence: We’re inviting companies to share their experience through the call for evidence survey, helping us better understand the diverse geographic, environmental and regulatory contexts, as well as the supply chain structures, commodity exposure and implementation challenges facing the sector. 2) Expression of Interest: FLAG Regional Stakeholders Convenings: We're also inviting companies to express interest in participating in a series of regional stakeholder convenings. Selected participants will join three virtual roundtables later this year to discuss implementation challenges and opportunities in greater depth. Participants will be selected to ensure a balanced mix of companies across regions, target-setting progress, value chain position, company size, commodities and countries. If you're considering setting a FLAG science-based target, there's no need to wait. Companies using the current FLAG Guidance (V1.2) can already benefit from key innovations introduced through the Corporate Net-Zero Standard V2.0 like the best efforts framework. Last call! There's less than three days left to help improve the guidance and tools that support implementation of the Corporate Net-Zero Standard V2.0. We're inviting feedback on the supporting documentation for the Methods, Metrics and Pathways that accompany the Standard. These methods and pathways enable companies to translate climate goals into science-based targets by providing the calculation approaches, benchmarks and emissions reduction trajectories that underpin target-setting and performance assessment. We're also seeking feedback on the Pathways Explorer, which is integrated into the target-setting tool to help companies understand the target-setting options available based on their emissions inventory. The underlying calculations and technical approaches have already undergone extensive stakeholder review, including two public consultations during the development of the Standard, and are not being reopened. This public comment period focuses on the clarity, usability, structure and completeness of these resources, including how technical information is presented. South Korea's companies are powering global supply chains. As one of the world's leading exporting economies, South Korean businesses are increasingly responding to customer, investor and regulatory expectations around emissions management and climate disclosure. Earlier this month, our CEO David Kennedy was in Seoul to meet with business leaders and discuss how the Corporate Net-Zero Standard V2.0 can support Korean companies as they navigate the next phase of the net-zero transition. His trip included a C-suite roundtable hosted by UNGC Korea Network WWF-Korea and 한국사회책임투자포럼(KoSIF), bilateral meetings with some of Korea's largest conglomerates, and discussions with the Korea Sustainability Standards Board (KSSB), whose climate disclosure framework will soon become mandatory for Korean companies. Throughout these conversations, it became clear that Korean companies see net-zero not just as a climate commitment, but as a business priority. Discussions focused on the practical realities of implementation, from managing scope 3 emissions across complex global supply chains to navigating evolving disclosure requirements and the broader transition to a low-carbon economy. This momentum is already evident. Science-based targets have been adopted by leading Korean companies including LG Electronics and SK Telecom, with adoption growing by 43% in 2025. The Corporate Net-Zero Standard V2.0 is designed to help companies turn ambition into implementation, providing a practical, science-based framework that supports decarbonization while recognizing the complexities businesses face across their operations and value chains. We look forward to continuing to work with Korean businesses as they translate climate ambition into credible, practical action.

This call for evidence marks the start of a new structured engagement program with companies as part of our 2026-2030 strategy. What is the implementation hierarchy and what does it mean for companies setting targets through the Corporate Net-Zero Standard V2.0? The new Standard provides a clear framework for prioritizing actions, starting with exhausting all the available levers to reduce emissions within their operations and value chains before progressing to broader system-level interventions where structural constraints limit direct action. This means companies setting targets through the Standard are expected to: - Prioritize direct, activity-level emissions reductions wherever feasible - Take action within activity pools (shared systems like electricity grids or supply sheds) where emissions arise within those systems - Progress to sector-level actions only where structural constraints prevent sufficient action at the activity or activity pool level - Consider enabling actions to address structural constraints and support future decarbonization where these constraints prevent sufficient action at the activity, activity pool or sector level within the target timeframe In short, the implementation hierarchy helps companies prioritize mitigation actions by focusing first on the most direct opportunities to reduce emissions, while recognizing that broader interventions may be needed where barriers exist. We’re pleased to announce the appointment of the next cohort of the SBTi Technical Council, which begins its term this month. The SBTi Technical Council is a technical decision-making body, responsible for reviewing and approving SBTi Standards and other normative documents. Its members serve in a personal capacity, act in the public interest, and help ensure our Standards remain scientifically rigorous, evidence-based and operationally effective. Members are appointed by the SBTi Board of Trustees following an open, transparent and merit-based selection process led by an independent Nominations Committee. The new cohort brings together reappointed and newly appointed members, providing continuity of expertise alongside fresh perspectives as the SBTi continues to deliver its Technical Work Plan. We would like to thank our outgoing Technical Council members for their expertise and significant contribution, particularly their role in developing the Corporate Net-Zero Standard V2.0. We look forward to working with this new cohort as we continue to develop robust, credible standards that support companies in turning ambition into action. Are you a company with existing science-based targets interested in the Corporate Net-Zero Standard V2.0? SBTi Services has launched the Readiness Assessment Service, a new evidence-based analysis designed to help companies understand how their existing validated targets align with the requirements of the Corporate Net-Zero Standard V2.0. It uses the data already submitted during a company’s original target validation, so companies can get started quickly, without needing to compile new data from scratch. If operations or emissions have changed since the last target validation, companies have the option to submit updated data to ensure the assessment reflects their current position. Each assessment report includes: - Confirmation of company categorization under Version 2.0 - Translation of existing targets into the new target architecture - A tailored transition timeline - An assessment of data readiness against the proposed requirements - Two calls with a dedicated SBTi Services analyst By providing a clear roadmap for the transition, the Readiness Assessment Service is designed to help companies plan ahead, strengthen the quality of future submissions, and prepare for the Corporate Net-Zero Standard V2.0 with confidence.
