Yaneishka Morales' first step when helping a family overcome a challenge is listening and learning about their hopes and goals. For her compassionate and empowering work, she received ServiceNet's Empowerment and Support Award at the organization’s 2026 Employee Recognition Dinner in April. As a therapeutic training and support (TT&S) staff member for River Valley Counseling Center, Morales works alongside an in-home therapist to support children and families navigating challenges ranging from anxiety and emotional regulation to social skills and daily routines. “We integrate the whole family,” Morales said. “Parents sometimes need help knowing how to support their children. When Peter McLean, our training and development manager, prepares to teach leadership trainings for ServiceNet managers, curiosity and compassion are at the forefront of his mind. Participants are given the opportunity to learn or expand the skills to build and guide effective teams. The trainings create a clear pathway for managers to develop and grow within the organization, and developing these skills should, in turn, improve the lives of the folks we support. Thank you for joining us at the ribbon cutting event last Friday for our new barn! The turnout for the event was fantastic! The barn will expand possibilities at Prospect Meadow Farm, a therapeutic and vocational program that employs individuals with disabilities, including autism, and mental health challenges. Participants work as farmhands, raising crops and caring for animals. This event was a wonderful opportunity to discover what Prospect Meadow Farm offers the Berkshire community. Many attendees toured the entire farm, seeing the new barn, greenhouses, the farm animals and some of the farm hands in action! We are deeply grateful to the Executive Office of Economic Development and the Massachusetts Department of Agricultural Resources. This milestone would not have been possible without their generous support. Our 34th Annual Autism Conference, hosted by Autism Connections, brought autistic self-advocates, families, educators, professionals, caregivers, and community organizations to Springfield for a day of learning, connection, and conversation. Keynote speaker Dr. Daniel Wendler, an autistic clinical psychologist, blended personal stories with insights from his research, encouraging attendees to imagine a world “where being normal is not the goal,” where neurodiversity is affirmed, and where people are supported in becoming the best versions of themselves. The conference included a record 18 breakout sessions on diverse topics, and more than 50 exhibitors showcased regional services and resources.
