  • Storms don't always follow the script—and preparedness can't either. While this year's hurricane forecast calls for fewer storms than average, weather is becoming less predictable. As weather patterns shift, preparation can't wait for "hurricane season" or "storm season." It needs to become part of everyday home care. In 2025, State Farm paid $15 billion in catastrophe claims. With no hurricanes making landfall, hail accounted for $5.6 billion in claims—showing that severe weather risk extends well beyond hurricanes. Year-round preparation can help homeowners reduce risk, stay safer during severe weather and recover more quickly afterward. • Lucy, a software engineer, recently celebrated her one-year anniversary. Her journey began as a college junior competing in the company’s mobile app development competition. “The environment working on my app feels the same as with my current team. Everyone is kind, helpful, and intelligent.” The collaborative culture, mentorship, and continuous learning have been key to Lucy’s growth. “I’ve taken on a special AI assignment, and credit mentorship and self-driven courses for my development.” Her advice to those entering the workforce is clear. “You should always embrace new opportunities because you never know where they might lead, and you might discover something you truly love.” Grow your career in a place that values learning, teamwork, and making a real impact. https://lnkd.in/gEkv3Ru9

  • State Farm® Underwriting Vice President Erin Rahn Morris shares her thoughts on why stronger, safer homes matter and how they help communities recover. “Ultimately, I want everyone to understand the choices they have about where and how they live, and how they can be safer.” As a founding member of Insurance Institute for Business & Home Safety (IBHS), State Farm has played a key role in advancing science-backed resilient home construction. After Hurricane Sally, research found: Homes with an IBHS FORTIFIED Home™ designation were 70% less likely to have an insurance claim” than homes built to typical standards.
