  • Sourcing Materials: Nitinol and Stainless Steel At Sublime Laser we specialize in laser-machining hypotubes made primarily from Nitinol and Stainless Steel. We know that sourcing these raw materials for projects and production runs can be a challenge for our customers. That’s why we offer full flexibility for our customers in choosing their material suppliers. We will work with the suppliers you choose, or we can source unprocessed Nitinol and Stainless Steel hypotubes for you from our list of preferred suppliers. Our customers have the control and flexibility to source material from their own suppliers; thus allowing them to manage important relationships, control costs, and protect important margins within the supply chain. We also maintain our own relationships with many respected material suppliers in the industry. If a customer is unsure where to source high-quality, raw hypotubes, we provide the guidance and recommendations to match your project requirements with the right supplier. We’ll find appropriate materials for you, based on your technical requirements and budget needs. For all of your laser cut hypotube requirements, the engineering and design teams at Sublime Laser have the expertise to create the ideal parts for your final products. • Does your laser manufacturing partner have both Femtosecond and Fiber Laser capabilities in a single location? Sublime Laser has both Femtosecond and Fiber lasers in our Salt Lake City facility. By having both types of lasers we provide increased design flexibility. For example, at Sublime Laser, a single part can begin its manufacturing process on a Femtosecond laser, where we machine finely cut design details that require the tight tolerances of no Heat-Affected Zone. Once those details are complete, we can move the part to a fiber laser, where remaining design elements that require faster laser cut times can be completed at scale and at a lower cost. When customers come to us with complex designs, we first look at the part specifications at a high level. Then we determine the most efficient manufacturing process that will deliver the precision required while also optimizing the unit economics needed to protect margins on the finished products. For all of your laser cut hypotube requirements, the engineering and design teams at Sublime Laser have the expertise to create the ideal parts for your final products. Contact us today at sales@sublimelaser.com and we’ll start the process and get you the parts you need, manufactured in our Salt Lake City, Utah facility.

  • On-Axis Vs. Off-Axis Cuts Selecting the appropriate beam alignment is important when designing and manufacturing medical device hypotubes. Understanding the benefits and limits of On-Axis vs. Off-Axis cuts allow our customers to decide how they can maximize unit economics while not sacrificing precise requirements necessary for premium performance. On-Axis Cut: Laser beam aligns with the tube’s center axis. Fastest Cutting Speed: Simpler set up permits fastest throughput and turnaround. Lower Cost Per Part: Shorter cycle times maximize efficient use of laser time. Suits Most Applications: The right choice for the vast majority of laser-cut parts. Off-Axis Cut: Laser beam is offset from the tube’s center axis. Parallel Walls: Consistent cut width from entry to exit, top to bottom. Geometric Control: Precise control over the wall geometry for complex designs. Precision for Mating Components: Ideal for when a pin, rod, or implant must seat snugly. In summary, use On-Axis for speed and efficiency. Use Off-Axis when fit, clearance, or wall consistency is the priority. For all of your laser cut hypotube requirments, the engineering and design teams at Sublime Laser have the expertise to create the ideal parts for your final products. Contact us today at sales@sublimelaser.com and we’ll start the process and get you the parts you need, manufactured in our Salt Lake City, Utah facility.

  • Inline Vs. Offset Cut Patterns Selecting the right cut pattern is essential for optimizing laser cut hypotubes. The pattern choice affects design performance and manufacturing efficiency, so selecting the right method impacts design, manufacturing, and unit economics once your parts are in production. Inline Cut Benefits: - Cut path: Follows the centerline of the cut geometry - Fastest cycle time: The shortest cut path minimizes laser time and reduces cost - Variable kerf width: Laser beam diameter can be adjusted between 15 and 40 microns Offset Cut Benefits: - Cut path: Offset from the inside of the contour edge - Better for intricate geometry: Offers flexibility, opening new design options - Removes larger blocks of material: Increases the design envelope for the final product performance For all of your cut pattern needs, the engineering and design teams at Sublime Laser have the expertise to create the ideal parts for your final products. Contact us today at sales@sublimelaser.com and we’ll start the process and get you the parts you need, manufactured in our Salt Lake City, Utah facility.

Happy Memorial Day from Sublime Laser. Originally observed in upstate New York in the years that followed the Civil War, Memorial Day (originally Decoration Day) was created as a day of remembrance for Union soldiers that were lost during the Civil War. Since then, Memorial Day has become a day for us to honor all U.S. service members who have paid the ultimate sacrifice serving our country. As we head into this year’s Memorial Day Weekend, the team at Sublime Laser thanks those who have served and sacrificed for the United States. Enjoy the weekend. Our shop will be closed on Monday, and we’ll be back on Tuesday. - The Sublime Laser Team
