Today is National Hire a Veteran Day. In the United States Coast Guard, our personnel operate in dynamic, high-stakes maritime environments, executing complex missions ranging from life-saving search and rescue to critical national security operations. When these service members transition to the civilian sector, they don't leave their training behind; they bring a tested ability to lead under pressure, adapt to rapidly changing situations, and drive teams toward a common goal. Hiring a veteran is more than a patriotic act. It is a strategic business investment in a mission-focused problem solver who embodies our core values of Honor, Respect, and Devotion to Duty. We thank the employers and business leaders who recognize this unmatched talent, and we commend our veterans who continue to make a profound impact in their civilian careers. #NationalHireAVeteranDay #USCG

When the sea roars, the Coast Guard roars back. We’ve marked a major milestone in Mount Vernon, WA, with the keel authentication ceremony for the first Special Purpose Craft – Heavy Weather II (SPC-HWX II). Partnering with Rozema Boat Works, this ceremony officially kicks off construction on up to six next-generation heavy weather surf boats. Designed to operate where other vessels simply can't, this 64-foot, self-righting boat is rated to brave 35-foot seas, 25-foot surf, and howling 60-knot winds. Slated for delivery by 2027, the SPC-HWX II will replace the iconic 52-foot heavy weather boats retired in 2021, vessels that defined the elite Surfman community for decades and carrying forward the legendary tradition of the Coast Guard Surfman in the treacherous "Graveyard of the Pacific." The Coast Guard has finalized two contracts for the construction and delivery of six Arctic Security Cutters (ASCs), a brand new class of polar icebreakers that will strengthen America’s position in the Arctic. The contracts are awarded to Bollinger Shipyards Lockport, L.L.C. of Lockport, Louisiana for four ASCs, valued at approximately $2.2 billion, and Rauma Marine Constructions Oy of Rauma, Finland for two ASCs, valued at approximately $1.1 billion. Using nearly $25 billion provided by the historic 2025 budget reconciliation, the Coast Guard has already ordered over $13 billion in new fleet assets and capabilities, demonstrating our commitment to modernizing acquisition, delivering next-generation technology, restoring readiness, and revitalizing American shipbuilding. The ASC program fulfills President Trump’s directive to rapidly expand the nation’s Arctic fleet by delivering 11 ASCs, while bringing Arctic shipbuilding expertise back to the U.S. and strengthening industrial capability and workforce development at U.S. shipyards. To meet growing operational demands, the U.S. Coast Guard is launching the Homeland Security Cutter-Ocean (HSC-Ocean) initiative to directly boost frontline readiness. By partnering with Bordelon Marine, the Service is deploying a commercial support vessel to deliver critical supplies, equipment, and personnel directly to cutters underway in the Caribbean Basin, Gulf of America, and other high-priority maritime regions. This logistics-focused strategy is designed to keep high-demand assets, such as the Fast Response Cutter fleet, on station longer and fully focused on mission execution. Delivering resources directly to forces at sea eliminates the need for frequent port returns, maximizes operational endurance, and strengthens the Coast Guard's ability to secure, control, and defend U.S. borders and maritime approaches far at sea. This innovative initiative not only drives greater efficiency but also establishes a highly adaptable model for future maritime logistics. By leveraging civilian mariners to handle vessel operations, the Coast Guard can optimize its resources and ensure operational forces remain ready and resilient wherever they are needed most. The U.S. Coast Guard has officially launched Phase 1 of the mobile Incident Management Handbook (mIMH) application; a major step in modernizing how we prepare for and respond to complex, multi‑agency operations ahead of the 2026 FIFA World Cup and SAIL250. Developed through a strategic collaboration between the Office of Rapid Response & Prototyping (CG-RAPTOR) and the Office of Emergency Management (CG‑OEM), the mIMH transitions the Coast Guard’s 2025 Incident Management Handbook into a fully digital, interactive, and field‑ready format. Key capabilities include: • 100% offline functionality for use in dynamic or disconnected environments • Digitized NIMS‑based checklists and tactical tools • Fillable, exportable ICS forms designed to speed intelligence flow • A built‑in “Submit Feedback” feature to guide continuous improvement This digital tool is designed to strengthen interoperability with federal, state, and local partners—ensuring seamless integration into Unified Command during National Special Security Events. The mIMH is unclassified, requires no login, and is available today on the Apple App Store. Coast Guard personnel and partner agencies are encouraged to download the app and help shape future iterations. Learn more here: https://lnkd.in/eHZNPhSg

Innovation is delivering operational advantage across the Coast Guard. Developed through collaboration between CG-RAPTOR, the Office of Maritime Law Enforcement, and C5I, TRITON and BADGERNet represent a significant step forward in modernizing Coast Guard operations. TRITON leverages artificial intelligence to automate boarding reports, streamline evidence management, and simplify complex case documentation. BADGERNet provides secure, long-range connectivity that allows operators to share critical information beyond line of sight and in challenging operating environments. Together, these capabilities reduce administrative workload, strengthen operational awareness, improve evidence accountability, and allow Coast Guard personnel to focus on mission execution. TRITON alone is projected to save more than 40,000 man-hours annually across the service. The rapid development and integration of these capabilities exemplify Force Design and CG-RAPTOR's mission to accelerate innovation and deliver operational solutions directly to the workforce. Building an agile, integrated force for the challenges of today and tomorrow. #USCG #Tech #Innovation #ForceDesign Read more: https://lnkd.in/eBQ_QcM9
