Air on achieved at MD Anderson SCRB5 The team has reached air on at the UT MD Anderson, South Campus Research Building 5 (SCRB5), establishing controlled interior conditions and enabling the transition into interior buildout and finishes. SCRB5 is a seven-story, 600,000 SF research facility designed to support advanced oncology research. The building integrates complex laboratory environments, including infrastructure for cryogenic microscopy, flexible lab space, and specialized core facilities. Program spaces also include a welcome center, café, conference areas, and collaboration zones designed to support both planned and informal interaction. Another major milestone included the successful installation of the pedestrian bridge spanning Old Spanish Trail. The 608-foot-long steel bridge was set over an active roadway using three coordinated crane picks, including placement of a 103-ton center span. Detailed planning, rigging coordination, and real-time communication ensured a safe and efficient operation. Achieving these milestones required precise coordination across mechanical systems, utilities, and trade partners to meet the demands of a project of this scale and complexity. With the building now conditioned, the team continues advancing interior scopes that will bring these highly technical environments online.
