Yesterday, something slightly ridiculous happened. We were testing blockchain payment use cases inside Salesforce with one of our trusted UK-based partners, which also has an office in West Africa. Our VP Sales EMEA, Hugues Marty, sent test funds from France, routed them through South Africa via VALR, transferred them to the UK, and our partner off-ramped them directly into a UK bank account. Total time: around 10 minutes. Fully transparent, auditable and compliant by design. Meanwhile, we were (and still are) waiting for a £20 UK-to-EU bank transfer to clear. 😅 Honestly, once you can send and receive international payments directly from your CRM in minutes, using the same manual or automated Salesforce workflows you already rely on, for just a few cents end to end, the old way starts to feel difficult to justify... After Poland and Albania (where Web3 Enabler won an Innovation Award!🥇) I was back one last time this year for PORTUGAL DREAMIN’® 🇵🇹 in Lisbon. I had the pleasure of making a quick trip to this colorful event, organized by Daniel Baptista and Miguel Carvalho, who kept the energy high with great activities throughout the morning (including a choir of 90+ yo local grannies!) It was the final opportunity to connect with many people in Europe, including the teams from TITAN and OneMerge, who sponsored the event, and to catch up with the inimitable Michelle Blair after her excellent opening speech, as well as Hanna Nimchuk, Ekaterina Obolenskaya, Pei Mun Lim (don't forget the only Frenchman who "speaks" Malay!), Ankita Dhamgaya, and many others. It was also a great chance to meet new faces and have meaningful conversations around Salesforce: fellow Frenchmen Eric Praud and Joël Chadet, Duncan Chrystal, Jessica Pethick, Carla Mendes, Benjamin Mobee, Mark Cane, Scott Suckling, Stephanie Parretti, Dina McLaughlin, Vuk Stajić, Monika Wrochna, and more! Some of the people I initially hoped to see could unfortunately not make it ( Bamnan and ThankGod, you were definitely missed!) but I was more than happy to reconnect with my partner-in-crime Caleb Asigbey to discuss the future of our Blockchain Payments product in Nigeria and to establish Web3 Enabler as the default B2B payment solution for companies using Salesforce there.
