Earlier today, Secretary Amy Pechacek, Division of Employment and Training Administrator Michele Carter, and Wisconsin Economic Development Corporation (WEDC) Secretary John W. Miller were in #Milwaukee for the first stop on the Workforce Solutions Initiative (WSI) roundtable series! Joined by workforce partners across southeast Wisconsin, today’s powerful discussion focused on local workforce needs, barriers, opportunities, and of course, solutions. In 2021, Governor Tony Evers invested a historic $168 million to support the needs of our state’s workforce and forge a path to recovery after the COVID-19 pandemic. This investment, known as the Workforce Solutions Initiative, consists of three programs that to date, have served over 128,000 Wisconsinites: Worker Advancement Initiative, the Worker Connection Program, and the Workforce Innovation Grant program. Each of the partners who joined today’s discussion were recipients of Workforce Solutions funding, and have helped to connect workers to hands-on training, career pathways, affordable housing, job transportation, and other supports that put them on the path to stability and success. Speaking to area workforce partners, Sec. Pechacek celebrated the many #workforcewins the partners have experienced because of the WSI, and highlighted the role partnerships and collaborations play in thriving communities. We are incredibly grateful to our local partners WEDC, Employ Milwaukee, the City of Milwaukee, MobiliSE, Southeastern Works, Boys & Girls Clubs of Greater Milwaukee, Local Initiatives Support Corporation (LISC), WOW Works Workforce Development Board, and Gateway Technical College — for sharing your insight, experience, and for your commitment strengthening regional partnerships. ✨ And a special thank you to Julie Cayo, AICP and Employ Milwaukee for hosting today’s discussion! 📍Next stop: Madison!

Long Cheng Marketplace has not only become a place for the Hmong community in the Fox Valley to get groceries and essentials but also a place for families and friends to make lifetime memories. Founder Maiyoua Thao decided to invest in the cultural and economic hub through a major renovation. The $1.4 million project will expand opportunities for local entrepreneurs and provide essential upgrades to the facility.
